Subject: ARBR Characters I have known by Ed Dolan - Part I

I am shortly going to take my leave of the cycling newgroups forever, but
not before I have posted a few choice reks about various characters I
have encountered here. These messages will be posted in several parts so as
not to overwhelm you.
1. Tom Sherman. Mr. Sherman was the first person I encountered on ARBR that
I began to pay some attention to. He is a civil engineer and quite
intelligent. His posts on recumbents were always dead on and I read them
with interest. He was fully the equal of Bob Bryant, the editor and chief
writer of RCN (Recumbent Cyclist News).
However, he was a loony liberal and so I HAD to engage him on that. We
fought many a battle. He was a good adversary for me and I never held it
against him that he was crazy politically. After all, I had been even to the
left of him in my long lost youth. Yea, I had read the major works of x,
Engels and Lenin and it is not possible to do that without coming under
their influence. But I outgrew that indoctrination as the century
progressed, but Mr. Sherman apparently never did.
Mr. Sherman was the mainstay of ARBR. I mean, he was Mr. ARBR himself. I
think as a result of our political battles that he no longer is. He is a
good soul by and large, but he is a taker, never a giver. In all the years I
have known him on ARBR, he has never given an inch on anything. I consider
this a character defect and I feel sorry for him about it. I have never
known that kind of insecurity myself.
Mr. Sherman is not quite compatible with me, but that does not mean we could
not get along well together. I would fill in his lacks and he would fill in
my lacks. But I think there would always prevail a certain level of
mistrust and misunderstanding which could never be overcome. Artists and
scientists never really get on the same wave length, at least not for long.
Well, that is enough for Part I. Other Parts will come forth in the
following weeks. So far on my list are Jim McNaa, Freewheeling (Scott),
Wayne Leggett (the Poet of ARBR), Gary G, Jeff Grippe, Bill Baka, Little
Meow, NYC - and yes, even Slugger among many others. Stay tuned.

which it drowns out useful cycling knowledge.
Yeah yeah, newsgroups are the wild west, yadda yadda. Then here's my
unbridled free-Internet opinion: I'm sick of seeing this shite. I don't
know these people, and I don't care about them. I really wish they'd do

I think 'bryanska' is Byron Ball, the owner and CEO of BROL (a website
devoted to recumbent bicycles). He was one of the very first assholes I had
to get rid of on ARBR because he was a noxious liberal and he stated that
only liberals should be on ARBR in the first place. I soon disabused him of
that notion. Well, it was good riddance to him and the group has never
missed him in the slightest.
Let him and his liberal asshole friends do their thing on BROL. I will never
again allow him to infect the sacred precincts of ARBR with his noxious
liberal-socialist-communist sentiments.
