Hello, Just want to let you in on a little known secret. Unless you are friends with pain you might know this but red chili pepper is the main medicinal ingredient in Lakota a famous arthritis medicine. I recently discovered it will probably cure alot of things. Cayenne has been known for eons to help cure people and animals. Mine being itching and pain from PHN after shingles. Which is essentially nerve damage. The hotness of this organic chemical seems to feed the nerves. Now the bike part. Lots of people get injured on bikes from too much gusto or whatever. Take it easy, but if you cannot try hot chili sauce mixed with your favorite skin lotion. Some lotions I found are more conductive to the heat. Cheaper lotions are less so. So next time try it, what have you got to loose. I use half a drop of hot serrano chili sauce for a quarter section of my face. You would have to determine what is hot enough depending on the body part and be careful where too. I have used store bought Tiger Balm and it works great but only for two hours. Mine worked till I washed it off. It also saved $20 that the pharmacy wanted for a cayenne based lotion of 60gm. Gimme a freakin' break eh! Consuming hot sauce should also be good for arthritis and muscle pain and should I say it, more fun. Cheers, SN And BTW the Eustar Bike boot from MEC is nice. I bought a pair. Phone mail order if you need size comparison. Fit Big for more insoles and socks is a good idea. They have velcro straps Made in China

Kind of embarrassing for a > near lifelong Texan. =] If it were a matter of EATING it to relieve pain, then Texas would be pain-free (except in the orifices connected to the digestive system). The ingredient which makes peppers hot is capsaicin. It has been extracted and put into a pain-relieving CREAM (don't eat it!) keted under the name Capzasin. I have used Capzasin cream to relieve knee pain from chondromalcia with good results. They even have a roll-on style that helps keep it off of your hands. I find that using my hands is preferable since I can add a bit of massage to the process, but it really helps to wear a pair of disposable gloves. You really, really, don't want this stuff near any sensitive parts of your anatomy (eyes, nose, etc.). Overall, it feels similar to Icy-Hot, but I think it is much more effective. Less icy, more hot. I haven't tried using hot sauce as an analgesic as yet. It just seems a waste of something that tastes so good.... -Buck

If that were true, then there would be no arthritis and/or muscle pain in >> > the whole of Texas. Maybe Texas has less than the rest of us though. >>I haven't tried using hot sauce as an analgesic as yet. It just seems a waste of something that tastes so good....<< One drop? Cutting a jalapeno and rubbing the area would have similar results. Hot sauce is so cheap and I have had mine for years. That is why I use it. The idea was to save money. Arthritis medicine just takes advantage of people with pain. I heard of something called psorisin arthritis Probably skin arthritis since it is a type of psoriasis. Scientific kaa kaa maybe but jalapeno would be the answer not what they are flogging. I guess Texans all have pearly whites though since it super cleans teeth and digestive tracts. I never said to eat capsaicin cream BTW. Unless you use sour cream and hot chili sauce to make it. Good Luck with that anyway

Won't stop a gushing artery but if you slice yourself sprinkle cayenne onto the cut and press it on, you will be amazed. You'll also be amazed in that it doesn't really hurt. Can't use old spices from the kitchen that have been aging for decades. Buy it fresh for the first aid kit, replace it annually or close to it. With honey and lemon it also is pretty good for a sore throat.
