I ran another Bicycle to School Day booth at my kids' middle school this year. I took a baseline count on Tuesday. There were 5 bikes in the school rack, out of 552 enrolled students. Today, on Bicycle to School Day, 37 kids rode their bicycles to school. I handed out all my clif bars, all of my reflective cuff bands, and all but 4 of my water bottles. This turn-out was comparable to last year, for which 42 students rode to school. I also had a number of skateboarders and scooterers - I don't include these in the official count, but if you came in on non-motorized wheels, I gave you a water bottle if you wanted one. -- Warm Regards, Claire Petersky http://www.bicyclemeditations.org/ See the books I've set free at: http://bookcrossing.com/referral/Cpetersky

That's very cool. I know I saw about double the number of bike commuters today. It's been busy with all the people doing the commute challenge, but today was really busy. I got to the station early enough that they hadn't run out of everything (like they did last year). -- Dane Buson - sigdane@unixbigots.org It seems a little silly now, but this country was founded as a protest against taxation.
