Subject: Buying a new groupset from the LBS
If wanted to switch completely over to say, Campy Centaur or SRAM Force,
would I have to order the components bit by bit? Or can the LBS order
the "groupset" as a whole? I ask b/c buying the whole thing would seem
to be cheaper even if I ended up with things I didn't need and I don't
want to get ripped off.

Thanks,

Bottom bracket installation isn't that big a deal, but if you like
this LBS, giving them the business would be nice. You might go talk to
them about it and see what sort of price they can give you, letting
them know your options. I'm not talking about using the online prices
to squeeze them, but just to figure out something that works out for
everybody.

Campy Centaur is $688.88 at Lickton's. Shipping is $10.

Yeah, I've considered buying online. Only thing I don't trust myself to
install is the bottom bracket. But I don't know. I got an LBS that
treats me damn well, and they deserve my business. Lord knows it's
tough market fighting for the business of the few cyclists there are in
Atlanta. I'm definitely going to purchase (another) frame through them,
so maybe there's a compromise I could make.

Maybe have your LBS do the assembly. See if the assembly charges
would be the same as if they supplied the group set.

Maybe twenty percent over Lickton's price might be reasonable for you
if it buys better service and goodwill. It sounds like they
understand you're not a cash-cow or a piker.

It's a decision you'll have to live with for a while.

Any good LBS can and will order your Groupset for you.
