Subject: Claritin D and cycling?

I've got a nasty sinus headache today. Usually I take a Claritin D and
I'm great, but I've got a long ride tomorrow.
Wondering if this would cause any negative effects.
Normally, I feel great after I take them, just a bit of a dry mouth.
On a side note: Is something like that a banned substance for racers?
Just wondering.

I doubt if the ingredients of Claritin-D, a rather mild over-the-
counter drug, are banned for racers.
However, the decongestant ingredient of Claritin-D is not recommended
for anyone with high blood pressure, like me. It tends to worsen the
condition.

What about phenylephrine hydrochloride, the ingredient in the new and
improved "tweaker proof" Sudafed? (get the generics and save for beer
money, folks)

I think the answer is "it depends". You should use them while doing shorter
training rides to learn how they affect YOU while riding. Every body is
different.
