in Specialized 2008 catalog there are 9 versions of their fixed gear
bike names for various cities with slightly different saddles and bars

one must assume this would be the death knell of the fixie revolution..
mainstream has cought up.. ;)

Dude, there's nothing more cred than their earliest player piano
scrolls.

Poser, nothing beat the EP on wax cylinder.

Whatever. Their first split 7" with that other band was the best!

Also: I think those new Specialized bikes are great!

Dude, their first album was totally better.

Why ruin a good road bike when prebuilts have come down in price? I
was going to build one up before I decided on the Redline--because it
was cheaper to buy. I "hipped" it up for summer today with the removal
of winter lights, fenders, the rear brake and lever from the body and
it's brilliant. Can't wait to hit some fire road this afternoon. All
that gear goes back on for rainy season, of course. ;-)

I'm glad that it's mainstream now. Running brakeless on a freewheel
hub and some loctite is not my idea of a fun faith based activity
anyway.

Nah. Poser is riding a track bike with NJS sloping stem, stupid high
gearing, and track pedal with Vans sneakers.

Would you like to bitch some more? How about how your favorite band
sucks since they sold out and stuff.

Yeah, I totally liked that band before they sold out and went mainstream.

I guess it just feels better to feel superior to somebody, anyway.

Old school? I was thinking more like snooty. Maybe we should all be
converting old Schwinn cruisers instead of buying mountain bikes:
That's the only real way to do it.

IMHO, bicycles always have and will be something for the masses. It
makes me happy to see people buying and riding bikes, even if they
just ride their mass-market fixies two blocks to get a cappucino.

Anthony

I like to take it one step further:

If it's not a steel track bike that is older than you are = POSER

;-)

Yes. It used to be that one would find a very cheaply priced, but very
quality, road bike, and convert that instead of buying a prefabricated
one.

I'm probably old-school, but the first phrase that comes to mind when
I hear that one can BUY a fixie is: "POSER"!
