I am looking to purchase a new roadbike which I will be using to commute approximately 15 miles per day (round trip), go on some good long rides over the weekend and enter the world of amateur triathlons. I went to the cycle shop today and they pointed me in the direction Giant SCR 1.0 for =A3850. This was considered more suitable than the TCR range because I will be commuting on it as well and therefore need a slightly less sporty frame. I've had a look for a some reviews and haven't managed to find anything. Does anyone have anything to say about this bike. Additionally, would anyone recommend something else. Thanks

The only things that makes a "sporty" bike unsuitable for commuting are the risk of theft if you have to lock it up in public, and the lack of attachment points for racks, panniers etc if you need them. If these aren't problems for you, get the bike you want for the weekend. -- Home page: http://members.westnet.com.au/mvw

If the commute is to be done in normal clothes with lots of baggage, I'd get a second bike that was purpose built for that. Commuting on a race bike is no problem if you like race bike feel. But trying to race on a commuting bike would probably leave something to be desired. A bike that tries to do both IMO is more likely to disappoint at both than to please. Either way, have fun! Joseph
