My new Trek 7.5FX came with a Deore front derailleur and I am finding out
that it doesn't want to shift with any load on it what so ever.
The Trek website lists the Deore XT as the "best" for this bike so my
question is;
Is it worth the money and time replacing the Deore with the Deore XT?

I see that Nashbar has the XTR but that is substantially more expensive than
the XT.
Thoughts?

Thanks,
HM

One should spend as little money or time on front mechs as possible.
They are terribly boring. Set it up properly, then have some butter
pecan ice cream as a reward.

Sounds like either something's not set up properly or you're not holding the
shift lever in place for a moment after you shift. The later issue is
significant for many; sometimes when a bike is new, it will shift fine
without doing so, but as the chain breaks in a bit and becomes more
flexible, shifts in the direction of a larger chainring need a little bit of
help. This is true for road, mtn and hybrid bikes; it's not something
particular to your bike.

Or it could just be a simple adjustment. What did the store say?

Even the "best" won't shift right if it's not adjusted correctly.
