Anyone? I was looking around for a modern version of the Dutch throw over basic pannier, and these *look* pretty darn cool: http://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/ACBAGPANN/BG0508

Well, I sold off my last spare bike and filled up the cycling kitty and made an order. Got Knog Panniers MKS Sylvan touring pedals and from Nashbar: Rear rack front platform rack that mounts to brake studs Add to that the Freddy Fenders hanging in the garage, and my Kona that's coming next week, and I should end up with a spectacular city ride for under $600. It's like Yule, but without the Jebus! I'll post a piccie and a review when I've used the panniers a bit.

Common in Europe, too--it's so weird that bike shops here don't sell basic throwovers like everybody and their momma has there. I got my grandpap some in the 80s that were plaid with a matching plaid thermos--now that is stylin'! Regular panniers work OK, but are awkward off the bike, these guys just have a handle in the middle, so pick em up and look like you're carrying luggage.

Might order them up tomorrow. They also got these Axiom bags, that are actually closer to what ya see in northern Europe: http://www.bikemannetwork.com/biking/p/ACBAGPANN/BG6630 Same size, and cheep! But a bit boring. But simple and black. I'll have to flip a coin. ;-P

I'm going to get me these and replace the plastic milkcrate I've got ziptied to the back of my commuter beater. Nice find.

They look *exceptionally* cool. And reasonably priced. So post a review when you get them! I'd like to know if they've got room for the stuff I carry to/from work, with the occasional grocery stop thrown in! I do have the hoogest Timbuk2 bag from back when I messengered. The company said give us our bag or we'll withhold your last check. So I told them to keep the $50. ;-) I'll probably get them, as they look fun and simple. I just don't want any of those horrible serious Mennonite panniers that people use for long tours.

They sort of look like the pannier-version of the Timbuk2 messenger bag. Do you own panniers yourself? Regards, Cullen http://www.comatimes.blogspot.com/
