The regular posters are regular guys and behave in regular ways - for
the most part! ;) They don't resort to schizophrenic third person
chicanery. It might seem like a fine difference to some, but it's
not.

The odd thing is the guy actually does have some nice stuff. For the
life of me I can't figure out why he'd feel it was necessary to blow
smoke up people's asses to sell it.

Over the years I've met some number of salesmen who just do stupid shit like
that. They'll have a perfectly legitimate, if humble company with decent
products and some reasonable hope of expansion - then exaggerate to the point of
discrediting what they've really got. Or this bogus testimonial / sock puppet
thing - I don't get it. Why lie when the truth is available and perfectly
suitable to your intentions.

Oh well.

I agree with you there. It's not like his site's trying to load me up
with malware.

> Several regular posters tout their web sites without being derided as

True, but they usually let you know up front that they are touting their
own web site, rather than coming on as "hey, look at the cool site I
found." There was a guy who tried that with his wetsuits a while back,
and received pretty much the same treatment as Rick.

Like others have said: nice designs, but a bit pricey. Not totally out
of reason, but more than I am generally willing to pay.

Perhaps "commercial trolling" should be considered a new category of
so-called spam. The product linked in the post is topical for the
limited number of groups in which it was cross-posted.

It wasn't EMP by any method of measurement.

Guerrilla marketing has its own risks, I guess.

I still like the jersey designs. The custom made jacket with your
event numbers is fantastic.

I bought a light merino wool ski sweater in a small-town thrift store last
week. See, I have this dumb idea that it's summer, so all I need is leg
warmers and a jacket over my shorts and ss jersey to go cycling, not my gd
woolens. It was so cold and rainy, after a couple of hours I began to go
hypothermic. The $2 sweater was a god-send. After I got home, I thought it
would make a really nice bicycling jersey, if only it had a zipper. So I
bought a zipper, and I plan to sew it in. So, I'll have a nice, soft, wool,
light-weight fully zippered jersey for $4. It makes the $125 (on sale!) one
I saw at the LBS seem like a total rip-off.

You sell your trust cheap: 1) I wouldn't trust a retailer who had
misrepresented himself; 2) there are plenty of other retailers out
there; and 3) there's no jersey that I need that much.

Your ideas are great, the graphics are very nice, the products look

poseur level and poseurs don't have the sense of humor to buy a jersey

That is the wonder that is Usenet. You guys get to hold hands and
sing Kumbaya, _and_ we deliver a shit-storm of on-point criticism to
someone who probably never saw it coming. :)

Generally, the feedback on such an activity (Wow! Look what I just
found!) outside Usenet would be in dribs and drabs and not
particularly constructive. The perp...sorry...the alleged perp would
probably not learn from the experience. Enter Usenet where spankings
are everyday occurrences, and a broad sampling of
misfits...sorry...posters would weigh in with their opinions.

The OPerp (trademarked, sorry) seems a good-natured sort, and I'm
willing to discount his transgression as an abundance of youthful
exuberance.*

That is not an unreasonable value for intrusive igneous rock.

There's a current thread in the construction groups where a
manufacturer makes a totally outrageous claim - that their plastic
product that allows grass to be driven on (think honeycomb) can
support 97,000 pounds per square foot, or 1.2 fully loaded semi-
tractor trailers on every square foot. I find such claims insulting.

Oh I don't know, I hardly think that's the worsted thing you could wear.
Why, I think that it goes fine with a Rambouillet bike (if those prices
don't leave you feeling fleeced). Some people seem to flock to them,
but I've often felt sheared simply by looking at the frame prices
myself.

Of course, some people would just call that wooly thinking.

I went and looked for posts from the Fab one. I think it's been more

Ryan Cousineau would be the one to ask. He's the fan club's

Don't worry, Fabrizio is still out there. He's always just up ahead -
around the next bend or just over the crest of the hill. Fabs is forever
out in the lead on a long solo breakaway.

Most people don't believe that Fabs exists. But he's there. He's up
ahead of you - just out sight. And all you need to do to catch a glimpse
of him is to ride harder - harder than you've ever ridden before! You
might be able to see him, but don't fool yourself into ever believing
that you can catch him.

Don't worry, he's out there...

Tempting, very tempting.

Agree about the cog. I had a 12 speed nice Japanese racer I restored
last year with a 13-26 (or 27?) cluster on the back, and it didn't
want for more gears. I gotta find one in my size that's a keeper. As
for the Jersey--I've found these cool iron on things for dark fabrics
you can print with your ink-jet. The sky's the limit. :-D

Veni, Vidi, Vomiti!

I am a habitual cycling cap wearer, and my Columbus Dove one by Pace
is getting pinker--but I seriously doubt I could get a Chinese made
cap to fit my over 7 7/8" melon. The Pace ones fit--with not a wrinkle
in the elastic.

Hey now, I'll have you know that I was fully spandexed up for three
hours this afternoon. Complete with lace up cleats and NOS 80s
Italian jersey with jaunty yellow/black/white diagonal blocks. I'm not
always open toe shoes and flirtatious bell ringing. ;-)

I gotta see if I can use the iron-ons with the synthetics--they tend
to do fun things like melt. I have, however, caused much consternation
by staying at the front of the pack during a 60 mile local charity
ride wearing a holey v neck undershirt with sharpie lettering
proclaiming, "Like, TOTALLY hi-tech jersey".

Check out the Republic of Anaerobia stuff on that page. The cap looks
like it might be to your liking. I'm thinking of getting one....

Anyone can custom-order jerseys from caanari with their own designs.
Even if you order a lot, i think you have to charge $75/ea to get some
kind of decent markup (like 35%). caanari is the biggest winner in
all of this ...

I have a 58 ring I will sell you. I can pedal it down the road with an
11 rear, but spin it, never.
