I sure could use some help getting to the hotels at HY 90 & State St.
I'll be coming from the north or north east a little. My plans will be
taking me south to Princeton and could also use some help getting out
of Rockford going to the south.

How about contacting the Blackhawk Bicycle Club
http://www.aeroinc.net/users/bbsc/ ?

I've actually checked out both of those, and found the Rockford one
very helpful. The other one isn't very good - at least online.

I'm coming from Jefferson, thru Janesville and along the east side of
Beloit, or maybe even right thru Beloit.

It's not much better on paper, but I scanned in a few sections of that area.
The JPEGs are big, and a tad slow to load, but feast your eyes:

It'd be nice if they actually put a few more road names on the maps, so you'll
want to check these against a decent road of the area, but I hope they help.

Indeed. Who in the Illinois Dept of Transportation thought it would be a
cool idea to k the roads using "official" names/numbers rather than what
is actually posted on the street signs -- when there are names at all?

Probably the same person who managed to leave the entire Bloomington/Normal
area off the 2005 series of maps (it should be in region 3 -- it ain't).

Have you checked out the Rockford Area Bicycle Map?

<http://www.bikelib.org/rockford/ >

The Region 1 and 2 Illinois Bike Maps might also help:

<http://www.dot.state.il.us/bikemap/STATE.HTM >

Are you coming down from Beloit, or closer to Harvard? I might be able to scan
part of the Region 2 map for you, if the online version gives you problems.
