Subject: Sizing seat post diameter
Hi All,

Recently purchased used an "old school" Diamondback Topanga,
it has a 25.4mm seatpost but has a shim inserted down the
seat tube and there is no gap at the pinch point, obviously,
the correct size is NOT 25.4.

Is there a simple way to find what it should be? I am thinking
of prying the gap open to say, an eighth of an inch and putting
a micrometer in there? or would there be something stamped on
the frame somewhere? the only date I can find on it indicates
April 95 but that might not be the date of manufacture.
Any ideas?

You could measure the tube's diameter lower down and subtract
twice the wall thickness.

Why not just take it to a bike shop and ask them to try a few seatposts. It
is going to be cheap to buy it there I would think too.

You whined about not being able to plonk people (blush) well over a year
ago.

I plonked you then un-plonked you. Reading some of your stupid comments
tends to be amusing.

Bill, you specifically said you COULD NOT PLONK PEOPLE with {insert lame
software excuse here}. IIRC, it was when that one guy was stalking you with
some pretty hilarious quotes from your illustrious posting past.

Now you claim something else -- shades of the Tricycle Story! LOL (First
it was 65 mph complete with a ticket, then 20 mph with a ride home in a
squad car, etc etc etc etc......................)

I'm too lazy to Google it, but I specifically recall you saying you couldn't
block individual senders. Whatever.

I can plonk you by "From" field or subject.

20 MPH with a ride home in a 1952 Ford police car. They didn't think a
5 year old kid on a tricycle should be taking the lane on a highway.

I can block the senders but not anyone who replies to your crap.
Thunderbird won't read the body of the message in a newsgroup but I can
do all kinds of filtering on the email half.
