Note commandment number 9:

"On the road, protect the more vulnerable party."

Can we just cite that law to drivers passing too close?

Takes all kinds, evidently. For this act of faith Clovis (also latinized
as Lodovicus) is remembered as St. Louis.

St. Raphael the Archangel.

You ask for the intercession and assistance of the Madonna del Ghisallo.

After a long 14% grade, there's every reason that a cyclist might be
wishing for the intercession and assistance of his own mother as well as
that of the Blessed Virgin.

It's worth citing whether or not they're converted. The Spirit has a
funny way of acting on people sometimes.

Take Constantine, for instance. He had a vision of the cross before his
forces defeated those of Maxentius at the Milvian Bridge--afterwards, he
tolerated Christianity. He didn't convert until his deathbed, though.

Or Clovis, king of the Franks. One of his courtiers, in a drunken rage,
smashed a vase belonging to St. Remigius. Some months later, Clovis
himself saw the man at a military review and clove his head in two with
a battle-axe, saying "thus did you treat the vase of the archbishop at
Soissons!" The Franks quickly converted to Christianity.

Good heavens. Conversion by the sword I have heard of. But by the
battle-axe?

I can never recall: now that St. Christopher has been demoted to "didn't
exist," who is the patron saint of travellers?

Or do we just pray to the Madonna del Ghisallo? Of course! Patroness of
cyclists, so declared during the 1949 Giro.

The approach to the church of Ghisallo involves a 14% grade. Compelling
evidence of the Lord's feelings about recumbents.
