I get the free version of this newsletter every week, and was surprised
to see Sheldon Brown's website honored as the Bonzer web site of the
week. Just thought some of you would like to know.

You can see the newsletter here http://www.thisistrue.com/currentissue.html

Look for "BONZER WEB SITE OF THE WEEK" about 2/3 of the way down.

Too far right and too rude for R. Brickston? Now that is something!

Oh, Jesus!! I've really screwed up now! I've got all the cyclists mad
at me. Oh, shit, what am I going to do? I'm so damned depressed. You
know that I really care what those cyclists think. They are SO
well-informed and analyze political issues SO CORRECTLY AND incisively!
I just can't stand their criticism! What the hell am I going to DO???
Well, I guess suicide is always an option.

If we took a poll to compare your popularity with Sheldon's, I'm pretty sure
the results would push you closer to the edge.

Then why do you waste your time hanging out in a cycling newsgroup?

Don't bother with suicide, the bullet or rope is worth more than the result.

Very wise. It is not widely known that Comrade Sheldon is closely
linked with Al Qaeda, and has deliberately offered dangerous advice, in
hopes of causing injury or death to Infidel bicyclists. Some of the
more egregious examples include:

Putting the front brake on the right side of the handlebars.

Advocating greasing bottom bracket spindle tapers.

Advising unskilled people to work on their own bikes, even to the
extent of spoking their own wheels.

The use of leather "ass hatchet" saddles, which is actually motivated
by a desire to decrease the birth rate, helping lead to the long-term
defeat of Western Civilization.

And, to cap it off, his nefarious promotion of fixed gear bicycles, a
dangerous design that has been obsolete for a hundred years.

Can nothing be done to stop this fanatic before he kills again? Why
isn't he in Guantanamo where he belongs?

Nice try. REAL terrorists don't spell Al Qaeda correctly.

Sheldon is no doubt a wonderful guy and all that, but I make it my
practice never to take any advice, whether about bicycles or anything
else, from a left-wing peacenik, U.S.-hating kook with a scraggly beard
that looks like a dog pissed on it. I'd rather learn bicycle mechanics

I hereby nominate "folson" for the absolutely most clueless top-posting

I move the nominations be closed. I move the motion be amended by

Dear Arlie,

Sheldon is too modest even to sign himself Sheldon "Bonzer" Brown, so
I'll cross-post this where others can enjoy it.

After all, with his web site down for a day or so and the Red Sox down
about a dozen games or so, he deserves happy news.

Cheers,

Carl Fogel

Definitions of bonzer on the Web:

a.. a general term of approval. As for its origin: its starting point
("perhaps" says the Australian National Dictionary) is the French word for
"good", bon. By the late 19th century this was made more emphatic by being
turned into the colloquial word "bonster". And this, in turn, developed into
the rather easier-to-say bonzer - perhaps influenced by the Mexican-American
word "bonanza". Until Word War II bonzer was a powerful word in Aussie
English.

Actually, it's good. The newsletter is about all the stupid things
people do, how idiotic they can be. But the Bonzer web site of the week
is its way to highlight a web site that actually did something right.

Thanks for posting this. I get this newsletter also, and I had read right
past this entry. ThisIsTrue accepts nominations for the BONZER site, and I
sent Sheldon in a few months ago. The site deserves the honor.
