Vegan Triathlete Blog

I just decided to become a triathlete. It's going to be a little while
before my first triathlon (and hopefully a very long time until my last
one), and I plan on blogging about it the whole time. Check out the
blog that I just launched today:

http://vegantriathlete.info

What do you think? Are you going to read it?

I've also added some forums to bring the triathlon community together.
Check them out too:

http://forums.vegantriathlete.info

P.S. I'm a vegan, that's the reason for the domain name.

Except, triathletes jump onto their bikes /after/
splashing around in the pool. Riding a bike in
a wet Speedo can't be good for the nether regions.
Might as well just sit on a big block of ice, and
summon the guy with the Barron Ligator, to take care
of the aftermath.

The triathlon format is all in the wrong order. It should
be: run, ride, and (maybe) swim. And the running part, I
find dubious.

And, as Fabrizio has mentioned: triathlon kit is fugly.

I have no qualms about anybody wanting to adopt
a vegan diet, if that's what they want to do.

Now, ~triathletes~ I wonder about. I mean, abruptly
abandoning one's bicycle to go for a run?! It ain't
natural. It's like interrupting an amorous moment
with one's S.O. to go bowling.

Well, I could see jumping in the water after a bike ride. A swim in a
nice cool body of H2O can be mighty refreshing. But yeah, abandoning a
perfectly good bike to run seems sketchy to me.

It makes more sense than when I was stationed at Pope AFB, NC. Watching the
82nd jump out of perfectly good Airplanes seemed like the dumbest thing.
But, are those guys handy when you needem' (grin)

You're not a "triathlete", until you complete one.

I tried a Vegan once. Not bad if seasoned correctly and slow cooked.

Vegan, the other white meat.

About 70% of the time they come pre-smoked too. [1]

[1] About 70% of the Vegans I've known have been smokers...

Hmmm, I was only thinking about cigarette smoking. I should probably
bump that number up to 85%.

You're 20 years old, you live with your brother-in-law and his wife and
daughter, he's a swimming coach but has no swimming suit although he is
thinking about buying one? No, I am not going to read any more of your
blog.

Ted.

It must be compicated getting enough nutrition especially protein.

Do not listen to this obviously vegan hating bunch.
I got shot down immediately for suggesting anything so senseless as
olympians on veggie diets.

There have been plenty of athletes of all sorts who were vegan. There are
even vegan bodybuilders. I suppose one can get enough protein without eating
meat or dairy, but that's a LOT of soy.
