Subject: Bryan Ball - execrable scoundrel par excellence of BentRider Online!
Bryan Ball is the managing editor of BentRider Online (and I suspect the
owner of the website as well). While perusing this website the other day I
noted under his links that he described ARBR as formerly a good source for
information about recumbents, but that it has now been taken over by trolls.
Well, if that is true, it is all due to the likes of assholes like him.

Bryan Ball once said on ARBR that he thought it was only appropriate that
ARBR should be ruled by liberals like Tom Sherman since most cyclists are
liberals after all. I immediately went into orbit and have hated him and all
his ilk ever since. Most cyclists I know are not liberals at all. But ARBR
had been taken over by this scum of the earth. I changed all of that and
ARBR is now a much better newsgroup without cowardly and traitorous
liberals like Bryan Ball cluttering up the place.

But who is this asshole anyway? Read his most recent article in Adventure
Cyclist (August) to get a glimmer of what makes him tick. There you will
find every erroneous opinion ever thought about recumbents. Hells Bells,
even old Larry Varney (formerely of ARBR before I got rid of him) would be
proud of all the ignorance displayed there.

Robert Bryant of RCN is just about the only one who knows anything about
recumbents (beside yours truly of course). But what is wrong with RCN? Well,
it is expensive as Hell and never became a real magazine. Recumbent cyclists
will spend thousands of dollars on their bikes but they will not support a
print publication which is overpriced. Even more importantly, the god damn
recumbent manufacturers will not support a publication which is the least
bit critical of their productions. Has it ever occurred to anyone but me
that any and all of us connected with recumbents are just a bunch of
bastards. I give you Tom Sherman as an example of the species.

And so the execrable scoundrel par excellence Bryan Ball continues to
prosper on the freaking Internet with his ass kissing BentRider Online
website. Imagine a cretin like him daring to be critical of ARBR when a
genius like Ed Dolan the Great inhabits it. What an absurdity!

I once owned a bicycle reviewed in BentRider Online (BROL). My opinion
of the bicycle was much less favorable than the published review.
However, it should be noted that some bicycles that have been favorably
by BROL are indeed good bicycles (e.g. RANS and Easy Racers products).

Well, Hells Bells, what does that have to do with anything? Even a stopped
clock is right twice a day.

Easy Racers has been making the same damn bike for over 20 years now. It
looks very old fashion to say the least and it is outrageously priced.

RANS is the recumbent bike manufacturer for all seasons, but they do not
know how to make a cheap recumbent either.

I am of the opinion that ALL recumbent bike manufacturers are basically just
stupid. Anyone can make an expensive recumbent. Hells Bells, even Bill Cook
of Barcroft can do that much. The trick is to know how to make a recumbent
for a couple of hundred dollars instead of a couple of thousand dollars. Can
anyone do it? Nope, we are all way too stupid to know how to do that.

How can they make a recumbent for a couple hundred dollars when the freaking
candy assed recumbent seats cost as much as a low end upright frame? Use
scrap plywood?

Pretty much. I owned an EZ-1 by Sun and the seat was made out of
plywood! At least the base of it was. I sold that bike and bought a much
better and more expensive Rans model.

I like the Rans a lot. But then again it cost 4 times what an EZ-1
costs. While it not a super light recumbent, it is faster than the EZ-1
and I can ride faster longer with less effort than my road bike. But on
the other hand I tend to ride the road bike more / intensely / than the
recumbent, which mean a higher heart rate and more calories burned.

Perhaps this site suffers from Cycling News syndrome, where all products
are rated on a scale from 4 to 5.

I suspect a product would have to actually injure an editor in order to
get a 3,

Bryan Ball and staff only know how to do one thing, and that is to suck up
to the manufacturers. Even Larry Varney, one of their reviewers, could not
find anything bad to say about the Bigha, the most outrageously priced
recumbent ever pawned off on an unsuspecting public. Screw the Bigha, screw
Larry Varney and, most especially, screw Bryan Ball and his g.d. freaking
BentRider Online!

Just because a nicely equipped HP Velotechnik Spirit [1] can match the
BigHa for half the price means the BigHa is over-priced? ;)
