Subject: quick Manhattan ride?
I want to spend just an hour or so biking on Sunday morning, starting
at E 82nd and York.

I've looked at the NYC bike map (from
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/pdf/bike/mapfront.pdf).

I'm thinking I can quickly get to the walkway along the East River
(I've been there on foot before, don't remember bikes but the map seems
to say that bikes are okay there), and take that south to the
Queensboro Bridge. Then go out on the bridge for a bit, turn around and
return to Manhattan.

Then I'd like to just get a little of the flavor of biking through the
city - but also without too much danger from cars. So maybe I can head
east to 5th Ave, then north to 82nd again.

Does that sound reasonable? I wish I had more time to spend on the ride
and could go to the lower tip, but this will have to do.

Also, is that map at from
http://www.nyc.gov/html/dcp/pdf/bike/mapfront.pdf up to date? I *seem*
to remember that York Ave had a bike lane, but it's not on the map.

Thanks for any tips.

If you're not used to riding in Manhattan traffic I'd suggest spinning
around Central park. It can be fun and the traffic isues are much less.
Since you are starting at 82nd you really don't have far to go.
