Actually there is supposed to be testing. The Weiders were really
working over Juan Antonio Saanch to get BB into the Olympics, and
they actually went as a demonstration sport once.

Yep. Admittedly steroids, and I'm betting amphetamines, but maybe not
since they weren't as concerned with being totally "cut" back then.
There was no prohibition at all against the steroids back then
though, and given the state of understanding, or lack thereof, of
nutrition by the athletes it was wildly hit or miss at competitions.
Beer, steaks, whole milk, and eggs to get bigger. Salads, tuna,
chicken breasts, and veggies with tons of water and cardio to cut up.
It's really amazing how far we've come with nutritional information,
at least as long as you ignore the latest talking head, Oprah,
Hollywood huckster diet.

I remain appalled at the no carbohydrate diets people
embark upon. They are hurting themselves. High grade
carbohydrates are a dietary requirement. Potatoes and
other roots, legumes, whole grains.

There still is no prohibition in bodybuilding events regardind drugs.
There couldn't be -- have you seen those guys? They're freaks. Yeah, now
they recommend low carb, ketogenic diets (or low carb, then high carb
ketogenic diets) for weight loss.

Governor Schwartzenegger made this race happen. Good on him.

Anyone besides me who knows _exactly_
how to pronounce Schwartzenegger?

Most likely, and some of them can probably spell it too.
