A real nail biter. Look carefully to spot the leader's mistake that
costs him the race.

Hi there.

The 2 videos you provided links to are not very clear on m y screen.
have watched them a few times but can not see what caused the riders
to go down like they did. I see that it was raining. Was it simply the
tyres loosing traction on the paint or was there another factor that I
did not notice?

Thanks from Wanting-to-learn Peter

The paint was apparently not fully hardened, because of the rain. As you'll
know, that sort of thing is safe to cross if you don't either put a lot of
power in or brake, but horribly unsafe to brake on. One of the Tinkoff
lads went down for no very obvious reason, but perhaps because the leaders
were slowing. Bettini went down trying to miss the Tinkoff lad. Everyone
else went down (nearly thirty riders in total) trying to avoid riders who
had already crashed.

One braked, slid and fell; others reacted by braking too. A cascade
after that.

I always prefer my crashes to be spectacularly innocuous. For
example, Beloki's crash was ruined for me when I learned he broke his
hip and ripped up his arm. Selfish bastard.

He failed to take out the other guy when he was attempting a remount?

I know it's recent, but I think this one has it for comedy value:
