How do you get a commendation just 11 months ago when you've been on leave

That's the part I couldn't figure. "Constable Darius Tierman, a 21-year-veteran
of the Toronto Force and a recipient of a teamwork commendation last June, has
been on leave since October 2004."

Maybe staying home's the best thing he could do for the team.

Getting a prize for staying at home is even better than having age
category medals for master fatties.

But not as good as having a Cat4 National Championship.

Didn't have any cash. But from now on, I'm brining cash and leaving
the power bars at the office.

Yesterday, I had an old pickup truck slow down next to me as I was
riding west on 66 towards Lyons. As the slowing truck passed me, this
18 to 20 somthing year old guy in the passenger seat sticks his head
out of the window (and I'm like, "Oh shit, here we go again..."). He
says to me, "Would you like to buy some beef jerky sir?"

Certainly not what I'm used to.

When I was in Montreal last summer, I pulled out of my driveway and
crossed the intersection when a peloton of road riders on a training
ride were on the cross street. They were all impatiently waiting for
me to pass so they could run the red light and one of them was doing a
track stand, so I naturally slowed down and eventually stopped to
challenge his skill, which enraged the riders. A number of them banged
on my car as they all proceeded to run the red light. I made a left
turn and drove up to them and started chatting with a big smile,
telling them I was also a rider and was interested in training rides.
This was somewhat perplexing to them, as they expected me to challenge
them to a physical duel or at least engage in the standard male
conflict behaviour. The most muscular of the riders came up to my
window and started telling me to go away (degage) and other typical
French declarations of hostility. When he realised that this was
having no effect, he actually started hooking the car, which was quite
amusing, as it was a 1988 Buick Le Sabre, so at two tons would
probably not suffer much damage from a collision with a cyclist, even
if he was rather heavy for a racer at about 85kg.

I don't think I would want to fool around with those guys if I was on
my bicycle though. That guy seemed pretty used to doing that hooking
manoeuvre. They were all about my age and weren't wearing helmets, so
were all of the "old school" of Montreal cycling, like the guy who
punched me in the face in a criterium in 1982 when I sprinted against
him for a prime. Fortunately, the cycling scene has completely changed
now.

Don't piss off them Montreal cyclists.

A local bicycle club should publish his and his car's pictures, along
with license plate number. That would enable cyclists to punch him in
the head every time he stopped at a light, or maybe just stick a knife
in his tire if it's parked.

The judge, if he had any sense, would suspend the guy's license for a
couple of years (it's a DOPE suspension after all), and require him to
commute by bike to see how the other half lives.

Well, this should (also?) be treated as assault.
