Complaining about the TTT -
cyclingnews.com reports :

"[Matthew] White was definitely not impressed. "Things were working out
alright [up to Popovych's crash] but that was a ridiculous f***ing team time
trial, that's what it was. Have you seen the course? There is no f***ing
need to have a course like that," he blasted."

Advice to program-planned racers : take up drag racing. At least there,
your vocabulary will find a more accepting home.

I was SHOCKED that it wasn't Hincapie who went down on the TTT descent
- he hasn't crashed in what, at least 2 weeks?!?!?!

Otherwise, nice to see an organizer break-up the regular TTT blah
course and try something a little more challenging. Discovery
crashes. I believe an Euskitel rider went down on the final hairpins
to. Lampre and Liquigas looked fab - leave it to the italians to
enjoy and excel on a challenging course (great bike handlers).

And a nice start to Giro. Not your typical TTT leaders, McEwen and
Patacchi divide up the first two sprints, great weather, no PED
issues, so far.

Not being very fast on the bike, but sometimes getting up to an
abnormal speed on flat terrain I am surprised at how much more
difficult particular maneuvours become, both because of traction
concerns and how much faster the road throws up features to be
negotiated. Then I think about the fast guys at speed for hours
working those turns. Bike handling seems to be a skill neglected
by some who should know better. I enjoy watching the pros go at
it.

Well, there's no mistaking how he feels, is there? As for the bad words, ehh

It certainly wasn't your run-of-the-mill TTT course, but that did make it
interesting.

Are you writing about Bernard Hinault? I read of him criticizing the
Tour of Flanders and criteriums at the Coors Classic as too dangerous.
