Doc wants to run a stress test before he clears me to race, which I probably won't get till November. I think that whole chest pain thread last month was not heart-related though. Cardiogram, ultrasound, blood work and CT scan all came back clean. The red wine is great though.

Hey Jim I don't know what size you ride but I'd sell you a Pinarello 56 cm AL-cross with bar ends pretty reasonable. Nice bike in nice condition.

I was wondering if you could ride a cyclocross bike like you do an MTB. My MTB's were all about 22" so a 56 cm is that size. The answer is that you can ride it but it is slower than the correct size which is about 2-3 cm smaller than your normal road bike. So I'm riding a 59 Raleigh Cyclocross Team which is a VERY nice bike by the way. I'm selling off all my bikes that I don't ride so I have the 60 cm c-c Merckx Corse 0.1, the 61 cm c-t Fuji Newest, the XL Santa Cruz Superlight and the 56 cm c-t Pinarello all up for sale. The Merckx is all Chorus 8-speed with a couple of Record parts on it. The Fuji has mostly 105 9-speed parts which work quite nicely. The Santa Cruz is hardly used and has all XT parts thought he downtube has some scratches on it from the (*&^)( bike carrier. Santa Cruz's don't fit any bike rack properly and end up getting scratched. The Pinarello is setup for real cross riding except it has a triple so that I can ride it instead of an MTB on the really hard stuff.

Heck, I have a Bianchi, a Pinarello, a Motobecane, a Peugeot, and a tandem, and none of them is good enough to be my race bike, even! Wow, I have a Bianchi, a Pinarello, a Motobecane, a Peugeot, and a tandem. I'm doing better than I thought! Plus a Kona, a Raleigh, a Phillips, a Nashbar, an FC, a Miyata, a Tange 2-tubed Norco, and a cast of thousands... -- Ryan Cousineau rcousine@sfu.ca http://www.wiredcola.com/ "I don't want kids who are thinking about going into mathematics to think that they have to take drugs to succeed." -Paul Erdos

The Kunich garage is part of rbr lore like > Justin's Bianchi. There's an old retired guy that keeps buying bikes and cars even though he can't afford to do that. He actually bought an Orbea for reasons completely out of my ability to comprehend. Then he took it back and got a full suspension MTB which he rides on the street. I offered to GIVE him a 56 cm Pinarello steel cyclocross bike set up for the street with almost new 105 9-speed stuff on it and he doesn't want it. Oh well, things are really getting bad when you can't even give away a good bike.

It sounds too big for me then, because that's the size of my Serotta. I think I would only agree to take a bike from you if you sign it the way Tom Kellogg signs his. I could have a Tom Kunich frame, which I would then keep with my Bill Strickland book of cycling quotes which quotes Tom Kunich. Tell you what -- I'll trade you my Hamilton Posties hat for your Pinarello. It is worn once, and Haven touched it. I will also thrown in my race program signed by Tyler himself. -- JF http://velominator.spaces.live.com/

MTBs are legal in the loser classes you and I would ride in. That said, don't mess around with your heart. An older rider of my acquaintance lost two peers to separate incidents in which they had heart issues, were temporarily not cleared for strenuous exercise, and went out on a group ride anyways, swearing they wouldn't go too hard. There will be at least a few races in November, including one in Coquitlam, and there's a Maple Ridge race on the calendar, too. -- Ryan Cousineau rcousine@sfu.ca http://www.wiredcola.com/ "I don't want kids who are thinking about going into mathematics to think that they have to take drugs to succeed." -Paul Erdos

Some, but believe it or not, the most comprehensive Pacific Northwest CX calendar I've found is in the Facebook "Vancouver Cyclocross" group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=17704463768 There's two races on Vancouver island on Remembrance Day weekend, plus a race in Bellingham on Nov. 17th, and I believe there will be a Coquitlam race that weekend as well. That will be the formal end of CX season around here (though nats are supposed to be in Kamloops sometime in November), at which point Drunken Cyclocross season starts. -- Ryan Cousineau rcousine@sfu.ca http://www.wiredcola.com/ "I don't want kids who are thinking about going into mathematics to think that they have to take drugs to succeed." -Paul Erdos
