You guarantee something that never happened? Maybe I won't buy a flat
screen and still get a guarantee for it.

Speaking of which - I just went down and looked at them this last weekend.
Think I'll wait another couple of years before buying anything.

Even then look at the warranty terms closely, and with the knowledge that there
is no such thing at component level repair for most of these.

You will be amazed at how much worse the warranty is on an $8K plasma than on a
$500 receiver.

What sort of room must someone have to buy a 50" wall mount? I was looking
at the 37-42" plasma screens and they looked OK but no one wanted to talk
reliability and the warranties were for like a year or two. I don't think I
want to put a grand or more into a TV that they don't think is reliable
enough to warranty for a decent period of time.

The Panasonic tube TV I have now is still a great set though it has a dirty
connection somewhere in it and you have to thump it every now and then to
bring the picture back. After it warms up you don't have any problems. And
that set is 20 years old!

Time to buy a new set since I can't find a TV repair place that wants to
pick the set up (get this - even though the owner of the biggest place in
town lives four doors down from me and has a minivan!) and it's much too big
for my Escort - 27" tube.

I would have won Paris-Roubaix if I'd started
training earlier. About 1973 or so.
