Subject: How do the riders stand motor exhaust?

When I'm behind a car, or much worse a motorcycle, I choke on the exhaust. TdF riders are doing Alpine climbs with motorcycles only a few feet in front for the whole duration of the climb.

Hang on, Rasmussen only ever said he'd waved the motos away to prevent Contador drafting them. Rasmussen never said anything else. A Danish TV commentator made the comment about exhaust, not Rasmussen. Do you guys ever read anything? Do you even think before you type? Or are you just in witchhunt bloodlust frenzy mode: Cyclist! Cyclist! Evil! Kill him! Do you actually have two brain cells between you, and if so have you tried rubbing them together? I don't know whether Rasmussen has lied or not, but this is not evidence. -- simon@jasmine.org.uk (Simon Brooke) http://www.jasmine.org.uk/~simon/ Wise man with foot in mouth use opportunity to clean toes. ;; the Worlock

When you gulp that polluted air down, you are lowering the carbon footprint of the driver. Cyclists are very community minded. Together we can work together to save the world. Al Gore would be proud of you.

This is supposition on your part unless you can somehow read his mind. I suspect it had much more to do with being too much of a carrot for Contador. Bill

Most riders seem more concerned about basque loonies running across their path waving silly flags 1 metre from the riders face. I saw Indurain remonstrating with seven press outfitted bikes on the Tourmalet, the day was very hot and I could taste the fumes from the moment the caravan passed through. Nice to be a motorcycle marshall on a major stage race, I bet there is little time for site-seeing but the atmosphere must be great.

When I did motorcycle support for the Coors Classic, the organisers told us that the women were complaining about motorcycles riding too close to them and they were bothered by their exhaust. However, in that race, Jeannie Longo, would always try to get on my wheel when I passed her, e.g, in the time trial. I consider this an example of the lack of depth of women's racing in the US 20 years ago. -ilan
