Hi All,

Here are 2 graphs showing speed and HR for two cyclists on a 10km TT
on regular road bikes. The out and back course is more or less flat.
The turn around is higher than the start/finish.

What can be deduced about the riders based on this info alone?

Joseph

Rider 1 is faster.

So then Rider 1 is the doper?

As Dan pointed out, outbound-inbound difference suggests rider 2 is
heavier. However, higher inbound speed also suggests better watts/
meter^2, which scales less than linearly with height.

What makes you say that?

Rider 2 had to buy the post-race beers, but probably doesn't care
because he didn't have to use frigging Windows to graph his Polar data.

Rider 2 has eccentrically chosen to use HR gridlines spaced at 6.5 bpm
intervals. What, is that a conversion from Imperial heartbeats?

Rider 2 also exhibits poor judgment in encoding plots using JPEG. I wouldn't trust him.

Heart rate at the end of a 10km max effort is sometimes cited as a good
estimate of MHR. The two riders would therefore have close to the same
MHR as each other.
