Tried this thread on bicycle.tec but not too many replied so I'm trying
here.

I'm looking at the Spinergy Xaero Lite Wheelset and very curious about their
PBO fiber Spokes
http://www.spinergy.com/Bicycle/xaeroLite.html
Of course the manufacturer will claim their product is the best but as we
all know, the best test is on the road in the real world.
They claim two of their spokes can hold the weight of an average car but
don't know if that creates advantages on a bike.

So I'd appreciate comments from riders who have used them.

the bearings on the old SPOX are sucky too. The xaero's are improved,
and the rim is deeper, and a bit tougher maybe. I have used both. The
SPOX are actually lighter. The Xaero are a bit less obnoxious cause
the hubs are smaller.

Still looking for the carbons to test, if anyone out there wants to
give me a set...

I have a pair of the Xaero predecessors the SPOX with the PBO spokes.
As noted by another they are very comfy. I too use them for
Cyclocross almost exclusively. Again as noted the weakness on mine as
well has been the rims. I've had two rim failures with the PBO spokes
pulled through. Mine are "old", I've gotten over three years so CX
season out of them so I really can't complain that I've had to replace
the rims ... Never had to replace a spoke that's for sure.

Hey Jerry
I know someone who rides them too and said just about what you did.
He's pretty big, hasn't had any problems, and loves them.

i used them extensively, i love them. i relegated them to the cross
bike, and I think they are perfect for that. they ride like a couch -
very very comfy.

I have seen the spinergy rep, a big dude, throw a wheel on the floor
and stand on the spokes (not the hub) while talking to the team about
the product.

the rims are the weak link, they can flat spot as they are a shallow
profile.

i have always wanted the carbon spinergys in a tubular for cross, I
think that would be an awesome wheel.
