That was a good read. It's interesting to see how much fitness can be
lost in a few years, and how much can be gained even with limited
time. He is obviously a freak, but still.

Pretty amazing. Encouraging too.

Who was the guy who borrowed his wife's Cervelo? ;-P

Sounds like some pretty strong guys. What sort of jobs do guys like
that have?

Are you the guy who stuck his tounge out at the camera?

Anyway, early season is good to just get into the swing of things.

Let's have a semi-detailed race report for the next race (or this
one)! It's fun to hear about. My first race is coming up on the 24th
(rolling 61km) and I plan to bore everyone here with a report.

The guy who was on ONCE is some sort of trader on Wall Street.
http://www.nyvelocity.com/content.php?id=1294

The guy who was on the Pan-Ams team is a medical doctor. Recently he
was an emergency room doctor but now is some sort of manager plus sees
his own patients.

There's a handful of guys riding full-time or almost, but most of the
hitters have full-time jobs.

I remember fields of 15 guys sometimes! Maybe that was club races I'm
remembering?

Did you race that day? To pixelated to pick you out of the crowd. You
should have gone in a break to get some TV time! ;-)

It is impossible to tell how fast it is from the video, and it being
early season and all, but I think it's fun to try to think about how I
would fit in. What sort of TT times on a road bike could the folks in
the various groups do for 2 laps? I have a good recollection of the
loop and it compares somewhat with rides I do now. Virtual racing!

I don't know lap times, but the guy who was second in the p-1-2-3 race
was world junior road champion and briefly a pro with ONCE. The
winner was led out by a teammate who was on the US Pan-Am games team
at which he medalled in the TTT, and he rode as a pro for Saturn. So
the field had some quality.

I was in the field but did almost nothing. Just rode around in a bit
of pain.

It's been 15 years or so since I raced in Prospect, but I remember the
frozen water bottle spring series races as always having a MUCH
smaller field. Looks like fun!

Prospect is a great place for races. We have more variety in our
terrain here, but every race is WAY more dangerous, and logistics
makes the races less frequent. Having a setup like in Prospect where
they have the system down really makes a big difference.

No, it's been fairly large a lot of the time -- though that depends on
how many other events there are in the area.

In the summer the lowest level men's race that has a 50-rider limit
routinely fills, and some of the other men's races hit the 100-rider
limit occassionally.

But when the weather is bad the turnout is sometimes smaller.

Damn, nice turnout for such a cold, damp morning.

Yeah. I was surprised. Though it was completely dry. I'd thought
turnout would be low. And there was a TT just across the river in New
Jersey at the same time.
