Subject: Tour de France on French game show
I'm watching the French game show "Attention a la Marche". One of the
skill testing questions was: Which Spanish cyclist won the 2007 Tour
de France? Neither contestant had any idea. To understand the level
though, one of them responded to: Who was the French leader from 1940
to 1944? with Charles de Gaulle.

What was the right answer; Pétain or Hitler?

Well le grand Charlot did hang out in the York Minster Pub in Dean
Street Soho London and proclaimed himself leader of the Free French. The
posters & photos are still there, although Gaston the moustachioed
landlord is long gone.
