Does anyone know what happened to Nicole Cooke? She's on the start list of
the Giro d'Italia Femminile, but she doesn't appear in the results of any
stages - not even the prologue. And she's not listed as having retired.
Did she get ill before the start?

The correct answer is one from below...

A. She was depressed since the nationals was canceled, being a seven time
national champion.
B. She got sick just before the start of the Giro.
C. She needs rest after the Grande Boucle, to prepare for the worlds.

answer follows.

C is correct.

If C (she needs rest after the Grande Boucle, to prepare for the worlds) is
correct - and I agree it's reasonable - why was she on the start list in
the first place?

Have you checked her calender on her website? I haven't, so I don't know if
she was going to race the Giro, but I think it seems logical. She moved to
Switzerland to train near the border with Italy, and I think she has hopes
of getting on an Italian team. I think she probably wanted to race the Giro
and her team probably wanted to send her to the Giro, but it seems she wants
to recover for the Geman Tour and Worlds, and there is Rotterdam too I
suppose. But according to team manager Thomas Campana, of Raleigh LifeForce
Creation, the answer is C.

They've implemented the new "vanishing" policy on her? Since she's not
French I guess she wouldn't be immune.
As you said, from now on it's "Who???".

You mean she's been photoshopped.

Using Photoshop as a verb violates the terms of use. See

http://www.adobe.com/misc/trade.html

Halfway down the page, "Proper use of the Photoshop trademark".

In the future, please refer to Nicole Cooke as having been removed using
Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) software.

Photoshop doesn't remove people. People remove people.

Yes, but Photoshop(R) is people-removal-ready software.

I think maybe she beamed up to the mothership - not a mention on the
interweb since the provisional start list went up. Soon all references
to her will disappear, and if you ask someone about her they won't know
who you're talking about.

Dunno, but the event doesn't appear on her calendar of events as listed on
her web site as far as I can tell.
