Maybe it is harder than they thought, running on ordinary petrol instead of the rocket fuel they are used to.
Their bodies have to get used to "ordinary" water and food!!!

Agreed. With the race running an hour behind schedule, I was
expecting VS to cut to the regularly programmed Steroids for
Strongmen, and then I'd have had to smash my head into the TV.
Luckily the programming dopers didn't prevail and I still have a TV.

It was actually kind of fun. Got up this morning for my regular
Tuesday/Thursday ride, check the TV before leaving (7:30am PDT) and see
they've got 50 miles to go and they've been averaging 20mph. OK, my ride is
31 miles, 3300 ft of climbing. Would it actually be possible to make it back
in time for the finish, with them giving me a 19-mile head start???
YES! It was one of those take-no-prisoners rides this morning, so I come in,
turn on the TV and voila, they've got 10km to go.
No matter what you say about the rest of the race, that was one heck of a
finish. Local radio (KCBS) used it as their only sports story, and aired
about 30 seconds of the finish play-by-play from Paul & Phil. The guys at
KCBS were pretty excited about it; this was exactly what was needed to get
things going again. Funny how the last couple of minutes can make the first
many many boring hours seem irrelevant...

Alright! I've changed my mind. VS didn't muck it up and cut to
Strongman, and it was a fitting finish.

With half the peloton nursing injuries. Every team has someone hurt in
yesterday's crash, and every team wants those guys to recover and make it
to the end. Looks like common sense to me.

VS is broadcasting it live. It just went past the scheduled end of
the program, and it will certainly go over the 30 minutes of the next
program with 30 miles to go. What no Strongman?! After Strongman,
it's a rebroadcast. Do they bump back the rebroadcast because the
original live broadcast isn't over yet? This could get
interesting...I hope.

LOL... When they're fast they're doping losers, when they're slow they suck.
I imagine they're thinking about todays insane finish and trying to put
off the inevitable pain as long as possible.
