USAC suspends members

"USA Cycling has announced suspensions for two of its members as a
result of a physical altercation at a local race in Prospect Park, New
York. Oleksiy Ivanov received a one-year suspension for physical
assault while Eric Robertson received a 15-day suspension for verbal
abuse, with both suspensions backdated to Monday, July 30.
Ivanov was charged by USAC for his role in the June 9 altercation and
did not request a hearing, but did make a statement and cooperated
with the investigator."

If you can dig around this site http://www.velocitynation.com to a
page with photos from a Prospect Park race in late June or July, or a
"Hangover" page from late June or July there is discussion somewhere.
I think the guy two guys were yelling at each other in a lower cat
race, then one guy decided to thump the other afterwards. I think I
was there but didn't see it.

Also, overall it's been pretty lovey dovey at the races around NYC
this year. For example, a few years ago one of our promoters actually
emailed a bunch of riders asking us to be ready to pull two bunches of
people apart at a race if there was an altercation -- there had almost
been one the week before.
This year the apparent aggressors in that stuff were actually helping
the same promoter patch up part of the road for the races.

I'll tell you, not races but lots of sporty riders around NYC wear all
black. It's really common.
