Hi:
Next July I'll be spending a week in Portland, at the International Juggling
Festival at the Oregon Convention Center, and I wonder if there's a place to
rent a bike (recumbent would be best) in the downtown area?

If you're in Portland the weekend of July 15-16, and you can get a
rental bike, you might want to consider participating in the annual
Seattle to Portland ride. See http://www.cascade.org/EandR/stp/index.cfm
for details. It's a double century that I've participated in twice on my
Burley Djano. I'll be doing it again this year, after riding to Seattle
from Portland via Mount Rainier. Is anyone else out there planning on
doing the STP on a bent this year?

I don't know if they rent 'bents, but Coventry Cycles certainly allows
extended test rides:
http://www.coventrycycle.com/CCWhome.htm . They're the "recumbent
central" shop for Portland.
As an alternative, you could post a request to the OHPV mailing list:
http://www.ohpv.org/ . There's several folks in the club with more than
one 'bent. I'm sure someone would be willing to loan you a bike.
