Subject: Catrike/Trike Seat Questions
|
Hi My wife just bought a Catrike Road (05). I'm totally impressed with it. It's surprisingly light, responsive, great fun, and practical. I'd really like to get one, but the seat only comes up to the bottom of my shoulder-blades, and I'm concerned that it won't provide enough support on long rides. Does anyone know if the Speed, with its more reclined seat, would be better for a taller rider? If not, I've been considering the HP Velotechnik Scorpion, which has an adjustable seat, but is considerably more expensive. I had a short (if wobbly) ride in a Windcheetah once. The seat seemed long enough, though with no lumbar support and too narrow. Does anyone know if there have been any changes recently? Any advice on the more capacious trikes would be much appreciated (bearing in mind I've got to keep up with the wife). Merci LGF

I'm in the UK. Unfortunately, I'm beyond the weight limit of the Trice standard models. The Catrike seats have around 20" backs, whereas mine is about 29" (I'm 6'5"). I'm in serious risk of buying a Catrike because everything else about it is so good, and ignoring the fact that the upper third of my back is unsupported. Are you in the UK? My old Trice has a similar low seat and I have never noticed any discomfort. Seems to work fine for me at 5'10" and about 185 lbs. BTW it would be worth checking out the new 2006 Trice budget models just released, they look good to me. http://www.ice.hpv.co.uk/ SW in the UK <legrandfromage@voila.fr > wrote in message news:1137419241.924656.218220@z14g2000cwz.googlegroups.com... > Hi > > My wife just bought a Catrike Road (05).
