Ed, Actually, I'll be 60 come April 15th ... ried ... no kids (by choice). If this world with all is basically not fit for you to live, then do the right thing. Take leave of it and ARBR in process. Both would be better places without the likes of you. There's no fool like and old fool and you fit the adage like a glove, but you are more that a fool. You are a liar as well. Where in my post did I admit to masturbation? You castigate others for the way they write, but you can't even read. I was wrong about you being as perceptive as the average tree stump. You're dumber than a rock. I'll not be Tom Sherman's stand-in. You two deserve each other. I prefer to communicate with intelligent life forms. Jim McNaa

Ed, All top posters are idiots??? Not that old mantra ... again. Sticks and stones.... Are you no more perceptive than the average tree stump? From your response, I can only presume that you were unable or unwilling to comprehend my message. Go back and reread it. I already addressed your regurgitated objections, observations and stipulations. Unlike you, I prefer not to engage in cyclical redundancy. You still don't get it do you? You are inordinately intolerant of dissension. You demand that I (and others) conform to proper form. Your fundamental operative precept is play by my rules or I'll not play (read take my ball and go home). Aren't you a bit long in the tooth to be acting like an adolescent? Correct me if I'm wrong, but your name is Dolan not Hoyle. Try as you may, you don't make the rues around here. Be advised of the following: 1. You ensure that communication is countermanded because you value form over function. 2. You mistakenly presume that you can commission a mandate, dictating the ground rules for communication. I refer you to paragraph #2 above in this regard. 3. You mistakenly assume that I am disappointed for having been deprived of your rebuttal. FACTS are not subject to debate and I couldn't care less what you have to say in your own defense. I know how very much you abhor anything of a sexual nature especially as it relates to you personally, but I just have to ask. Do you recall how you were told that you shouldn't masturbate because it will make you go blind? Well you didn't, did you? I mean you can still see. Nonsense, I know you like to get back a response. You would not be addressing me by name otherwise. They are not my rules, they are the rules governing Usenet communications as given to us by Google. But I agree with them because they make sense. Any other manner of posting does not make sense. The reason the rules make sense is that you cannot depend on others to read the previous message and certainly not the entire thread. Very many will only read a single message and everything has got to be there for them to make sense out of it. Most folks are way too lazy to go back and read anything previous to what they are presently reading. I know I am. > I know how very much you abhor anything of a sexual nature especially > as it relates to you personally, but I just have to ask. I never attempt humor myself as I do not have the wit for it. However, I am somewhat surprised that a 50 year old man like Jim McNaa would be into masturbation. I think he is ried and has kids too (Tim McNaa?), and so it is doubly troubling that he would stoop so low as to admit to such a low life. But Great Saints like myself are few and far between. Ed, So then your answer to "GET A JOB" is that ARBR or is your job. How pitiful. Interesting? You think you are interesting? You are the laughing stock of ARBR. Have you not heard the clamoring of the masses for you to take leave of ARBR and keep your promise to stay away for good this time? Is that what you consider a vote of confidence? You a bore who parrots the same crap over and over, ad nauseum. You fancy yourself as the savior off ARBR, its self-appointed housekeeper when in reality you are one of the reason why so many have departed. You believe that you have attributes that you are not even in possession of or have not yet mastered. You suggest that you are a role model for us all and yet if we were all to emulate you, none of us would be able to get along with one another. You think that ARBR is all about Ed Dolan and the world revolves around you. Get real. You think that yours is the way, the truth and the light. I thought someone before you said that. In present day context, those sci-fi fans who follow Stargate SG-1 will recognize Ed as like unto a prior for the Ori (not sure about the spelling). Readers... The gap between Ed and reality is immense and insurmountable. Just listen to what the man says of himself. He professes that he has attained spiritual fulfillment by abnegating contact with his fellow man, in effect denying his collective consciousness. Countless times, in disdain, Ed has avowed his cerebral transcendence over all ARBR subscribers. For the sake of argument, just humor Ed in his delusion and follow along. Whereas it is a given that there is an inherent human desire to be recognized by one's peers, Ed in deference admits to having no peers. Consequently, the very recognition that Ed demands is circumvented by his own arrogance, and yet, in utter contradiction, he perseveres in his insatiable crusade to be heard by those who seemingly matter not. Is this not just a bit incongruous? The pompous Mr. Dolan, subscribes to the mistaken impression that the readership savors his every word whereas in reality the only person who values what the man says is the many saying it. He loves to hear himself talk or write as the case me be. By his own admission, with no one worthy of his companionship, the sanctimonious hermit has little more than the ARBR from which to derive meaning in his life. Regardless of Ed's opinion of the ARBR readership, without the lifeblood of the ARBR audience to sustain him, Ed has nothing and is nothing. What a pathetic shallow existence. Pity the misguided fool. It must really suck to be him. Jim

Hi, I just finished reading through this entire thread and like so many other threads, I found it to be monopolized by the ARBR's self-anointed apotheosis and have drawn the following conclusions. The title of this thread should be changed to Ed Dolan, GET A LIFE or Ed Dolan, GET A GRIP! What we have here is the quintessential example of one who is a legend in his own mind ... the consummate conundrum ... a complex amalgam of absurd contradiction ... an individual who will forever hold an opinion of himself far in excess of the opinion that others have of him ... an incongruous, emotionally-challenged, megalomaniacal misanthrope who is in dire need of a therapist. I think that about covers it. As a matter o fact in all likelyhood he and his friends blazed a trail past where am now living. I find it amazing that he settled north of the Columbi river because of the laws not allowing black men to lay claim to lan in the Oregon valleys. During WW11 many blacks were employed in the shipyard at Portland After the war, when they were no longer needed, many could not fin work while the high paying jobs were given to the white folk. They ha the talent and the willingness to work but alas they were black. From the Willapa valley, k Steinboc -- nget

Never fear nget. Ed Dolan will always be here to take to task those who do not post properly. However, when you are using Google as your point of access there are complications which do not apply when using a proper newsreader like Outlook Express. I am often at my wit's end to know how to respond to such scofflaws. I am always thinking if I go for the jugular, what will Mr. Sherman think of me. Yes, I care what he thinks of me because I know him to be intelligent and fair minded. I will often pull my punches because of him. It is easy to get low down and dirty. It is what we men do best. We can all do it, but that does that mean we should do it. I have noted that Mr. Sherman does not do it ever. As I have modeled myself after Mr. Sherman from day one as to the form of my posts, I believe I will stick with him on this. In short, he is a slut (male variety) and I am a Great Saint. What else is there to know? Everything is always tit for tat with me. Say something intelligent and civil you will most likely get that back. Say something stupid and rude, and you will most assuredly get that back. But what does Fab have to say for himself. We surely do not want him back here baiting all the Freds about how fast he is and how slow they are. That very quickly got tiresome in the extreme. Fab was a one note Johnny who was only able to amuse idiots. Even Mr. Sherman got tired of him. I have tried many times to have a civil conversation with you only to have you reply to me with rudeness and insults. I've even had conversations with you where I implored you to remain civil but you persisted in being rude. It seems you don't know how to disagree without being disagreeable. I wouldn't call you stupid because you are clearly quite intelligent but you do seem to feel that civility is unnecessary or at least optional. You and I (and others) could have some quite interesting conversations if you would actually be willing to be civil and engage the topic being discussed. You remind me of Wayne's replacement, explanation to follow. Back in the days of BBS's there was a BBS with an active philosophy discussion run by someone named Wayne who was pretty high up in the Hare Krishna organization. He was always willing to engage any topic and when it came down to a matter of belief he would simply say, "This is what I believe". A broad spectrum of opinion was tolerated and encouraged. When Wayne was promoted (or whatever happens to people in that organization), his replacement was not so interested in a lively discussion. Just as discussions were getting going he would post a message that said "The Veda's say xxxxx" and then he would terminate the discussion and not allow any more posting. Needless to say that board became very unpopular very quickly. You remind me of this person. You do not seem to be secure enough in your beliefs to engage with those who differ. All you do is repeat your opinion and remind us that anyone who disagrees with you is an idiot. Then later on, you lie about what you have done with postings like the one I have quoted above. You are simply getting back what you put out, Ed. Have you noticed that other than yourself, nobody has bothered to insult me? Being the whacked out, far left, liberal that I am I sure there are lots of people who disagree, but I'm not disagreeable. Please feel free to be yourself but don't try to claim to be someone you are not. You do not behave civilly. It isn't anywhere near important to you to treat people with respect and dignity. I'm sure you've even said so yourself. If you had the slightest interest in being civil I wouldn't be writing this message. Happy Trails Ed, Jeff

That didn't really come out right nor express what I wanted to say but it is as close as I can come. I realize that this communication is written and I could edit but I don't have a more precise version to offer. Whoever or whatever you are, be well. Jeff

Even Mr. Sherman has repeatedly made a fool of himself by taking newsgroups seriously. Is that how > it works, you read rbm now only to look for your name? Claire, you nitwit, stay the hell away from this scum bucket who goes by the name of Fab. So far all I have ever heard him say on this group is that he likes to wank. It is possible that if he got you away in a secluded place he would rape you and murder you. Assholes who post to a newsgroup and their sole subject is wanking are bad news. Don't you know this? Were you born yesterday? Are you a moron? Listen to your wise old Uncle Ed. FWIW, you don't have to provide an exact date...the year you last had sex would be sufficient for this discussion. > But hey GaryG, why don't you tell this group all about your sex life since > that seems to be what you want to talk about. We will listen to your tale of > woe and have a good laugh. Well, since you asked, my sex life has been pretty incredible of late. Last July I started seeing an attractive athletic woman who likes to ride as much as I do (plus run, kayak, backpack, etc.). I once asked her if my riding would interfere with our relationship, and she replied, "Ride as much as you like...just save the last mile for me". Already on this year's fun calendar are: an adventure race in April, climbing 14,000' Mt. Shasta in May, and cycling in Colorado in June. For a picture of us (taken on a ride around Lake Tahoe): http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?p=1936564#post1936564 > Afterwards, I will treat you to a little vino. Well, it is OK to have a girl friend as long as you are not taking advantage of her. I will of course expect to see you shortly ried and settled with a brood of kids. However, that sort of life is not for me. I am a loner and I simply can't imagine living any other way. By the way, you will not have to climb Mr. Shasta. Any other way makes a mess of the thread as well as makes a mess of logic and reason. It is doing things ass-backwards. For instance, in this present message of yours you have Jeff Grippe saying what I said. He would never say what I said because he does not have my imagination. You have done both me and him an injustice and you have confused any subsequent reader of this thread. Mr. Brandt needs to review the Google rules for proper posting. Failing that, he should at the least reveiw Mr. Sherman's posts which are always letter perfect and 100% correct.
