ARBR is the most worthless newsgroup that has ever existed in the entire
history of Usenet. Here I am trying to spark up this group and only the
notorious liberal scofflaw Tom Sherman ever has anything to say to me.
I urge one and all to lose your cowardice and to enter into the fray. After
all, it is no fun for me to have no one to beat up on. Show some
consideration for a lone conservative who likes nothing better than to trash
liberals. Yea, don't deny it - I KNOW you for the liberal scum bags that you
are.
No respectable cyclist would ever be caught dead on these freaking cyclist
newsgroups. Yea, we are the pits, so let it all hang out and show the world
what a bunch of scum bags we are. Don't think we are scum? Then just read
the posts of Ozark and Doug Taylor among many others.
The only voice of sanity and sweet reason on these newsgroups is the Great
Ed Dolan. Ed, many thanks for keeping us on the straight and narrow. You are
a godsend to these freaking cycling newsgroups and I worship the ground you
walk on. I know you are not only Great, but a Great Saint besides. It is an
honor and a privilege to even exist in the same universe as you.

The Great Ed Dolan is a genius and wise beyond your comprehension. Being
smart is not about IQ, but about knowing your ass from a hole in the ground.
RBM is one of the stupidest newsgroups that has ever disgraced Usenet. Very
funny that you cannot see yourselves for what you are - idiots, morons and
imbeciles.
I am convinced that only the very dumbest cyclists ever post to Usenet.
Anyone with any brains would not be caught dead on these freaking cycling

Ed Dolan is about 70 or 71 years old.
They type of people Ed Dolan drove off alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent are
those who do not mind being constantly told to behave. The type of
banter that often occurs between such posters as Ozark Bicycle, JFT,
J. Taylor, Bill Sornson, et al would get the thread locked or deleted,
and the posters banned in short order from the moderated web forum in
question.
A little spirited off-topic discussion should not hurt anyone but the
overly uptight.

Ozark Bicycle is half-way to understanding the Great Ed Dolan. My only
purpose in being on these forums is to enliven them. Just because a
newsgroup is dedicated to bicycles does not mean that it needs to be
terminally boring. There is nothing worse in the universe than to be boring.
I am looking forward to Ozark Bicycle not being boring.
It is OK to say stupid and obnoxious things on a newsgroup. It is NOT OK to
say boring things.

And why the hell didn't Mr. Tom Sherman leave the group also? He would not
be missed much by anyone, other than me of course. He is yin to my yang.
Christ, if I didn't have his sorry ass to kick around, who would I have?
Bill Baka already has his Brickston on RBM. Nay, Sherman and Dolan need one
another. The world would self- destruct if there were not some controls
being exercised by the regulars of ARBR. RBM is fortunate indeed to have the
likes of Tom Sherman and the Great Ed Dolan honoring their humble forum with
their august presence.

arbr has really turned into alt.fan.ed.dolan.
It would be nice if there were a separate usenet group for cycling. Then
could read the afed group for yuks and the cycling group for on-topic stuff.
It is the nature of the beast, however, that one person, committed to doing
so, can dominate a group.
I used to feel bad about responding to topics by or about him but when I
didn't, somebody else always did. We were able to achieve a united front to
stay on topic and ignore him but it didn't last. Human nature being what it
is, you could have predicted the result.
So my current thinking is that we should post on topic stuff when we have
something to say that is on topic and either ignore the afed material or
not.
Now Ed, I don't know if all top poster are idiots, but I confess to being
one myself. Just ask my wife, she'll tell you.

question. But the inverted priority we give them will astound

while I shudder at the jihadists' deadly capabilities as documented by

Fair enough; no oracle is final in such matters.
Yet can't we agree that an armed psychopath in our house is more of a
threat than a finger raising the thermostat one degree? (Not that it's
certain any such human cause exists; it may be no more than a cyclical
brownout of the planetary air conditioning.) And shouldn't we admit
that "in our house" is literally true, when it comes to thousands of
Islamic radicals who have slipped across US borders and now stand to
gain instant legalization under the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill?
Among our opinion-shapers and political leaders, passivity toward the
illegal-alien invasion aligns roughly, though not exactly, with
passivity toward global jihad. President Bush, unbending as he is on
Iraq, still naively insists Islam is a "religion of peace," and he

that has lost its nerve, its head, its soul, or all three.
