I just installed Bacchetta's Euromesh Seat on my 2003 Strada replacing
the fiberglass M5 that I purchased originally. Wow! What a
difference! From day one, I had issues with the stiff, harsh, noisy
ride inherent with the fiberglass hardshell seat. The Euromesh fixes
ALL of these problems with almost no weight gain! The additional
comfort and breathability will certainly be very welcome on long summer
rides!

Hello Ed. You are right on the money with RANS' seats. The fact that
some recumbent manufacturers include a RANS seat option speaks to the
comfort and popularity of their seats. The RANS influenced design of
the Euromesh Seat is obvious. I am not surprised. John Schlitter and
perhpas k Colliton probably had a lot to do with the design of the
RANS seat.

And finally, I agree completely about the old Cobra seat! I think the
backrest was made from plywood wrapped in a thin foarm with a vinyl
cover! Nasty.

All hard shell seats are uncomfy and strictly for the racing set. The Vision
seat and the RANS mesh back seat are the most comfy ever invented for the
recumbent bicycle. But even the old RANS bucket type hard shell seat was not
bad either. RANS, unlike most other recumbent manufacturers, has always
known how to design a comfortable seat.

The very worst seat I ever had the misfortune to sit upon was the old Cobra
seat on the Tour Easy. Damn, that thing was really into nothing but creating
a sore butt. By the way, all-mesh seats I do not find at all comfortable.
The seat base needs to be something other than mesh, or else have a very
good foam pad over it.
