Some of you may have seen my earlier post offering to trade my WindCheetah for a Greenspeed or other high end trike. Yesterday I went to see someone who had two different trikes to trade. The first one was an Optima Rhino and the second was a Greenspeed GT3. I went there really hoping to love the Rhino. It was fully suspended. It had a transmission consisting of a Rohloff Speedhub and a Schlumph Speed Drive. It was clearly well suited for both on and off road riding. It was a thing of beauty to behold. Unfortunately it had some of the same problems that made the WindCheetah a bad choice for me. 1. The seat was too narrow. It was comfortable and if that were the worst problem, it could be lived with but... 2. The most comfortable postion for the handlebars left your hands very close to the wheels. Even adjusting them back a bit still left you with hands that were too close.and.... 3. When cornering, the wheels came very close to or could even touch my legs and finally... 4. When I was at the end of my pedal stroke with my leg extended, my thigh was resting on the spring that was built into the shock. This wasn't a problem in the parking lot but I could see where it could be one in actual use. So this trike, which was clearly a thing of beauty, and loaded with great features, was not the trike for me. I kept looking at it and really wanted it to be the one but it wasn't. Alas. Jeff

Be aware also that there is generally a 300 pound weight limit on most of them. Maybe you could lose some weight and trim down. Bikes are not really designed for giants. It may be that you would look very good on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. That way you could do your own thing and be a rebellious lout. In other words, you could be you and not have to post the way the rest of us do here on ARBR. Those motorcycle guys on their newsgroups might even appreciate your manner of posting. You could be just one of the guys. Hey! I did things MY WAY! Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota

Fortunately I'm not in the 300 pound range (or higher). I'm under 250 these days so that puts me in the range for the Greenspeed GT3 which I traded for the WindCheetah. It felt as good as I remember Greedspeed trike feeling. > > It may be that you would look very good on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. > That way you could do your own thing and be a rebellious lout. I wish you many happy miles on the pedal powered vehicle of your choice. Pedal powered is key here.

"dolan" should be Dolan and "your" should be you're. Two mistakes out of eight words. Not bad for upyerbumbum Slugger! I have repeatedly tried to humble myself, but I have failed every time due to types like Jeff Grippe who insists on posting idiosyncratically, i.e. , wrongly. To attempt to educate everyone on the correct conventions of posting is a thankless task and an endless one to boot. I no sooner get one corrected than another comes along to take his place. Jeff is particularly stubborn however. That is the besetting sin of intellectuals. They are full of pride and will not humble themselves. They have lost the knack of being a good student. I of course set a sterling example of how others should behave when confronted with the errors of their ways. As much as I would like to be humble (it is not easy to be Great all the time), I still have much work to do with characters like Jeff around, and so I must remain truly yours ... Ed Dolan the Great. You have at least got yourself pegged right in any event. A small i for a capital I suits you to a T. However, upyerbumbum Slugger does know how to post the right way. Jeff Grippe could learn a thing or two by observing how others post here to ARBR. If an idiot like upyerbumbum Slugger can post the right way, then someone as intelligent as Jeff can post the right way too. Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota

This topic has already died if it ever even lived. A new message posted to a newsgroup will have it's greatest response within a couple of days. After that it begins to die, as it should. Upyerbumbum Slugger and I can go on exchanging insults until the cows come home. The difference is that I will try to make my insults interesting and charming whereas he will just go for the groin like the bottom feeder that he is. Slugger is quite good on the subject of computers, but on most other things he is hopeless. I have thought of teaching him how to write the language that we more or less share, but he is a lot like you that way. He insists on doing things his OWN WAY, even if it is all the wrong way. I put you in the same category as k Leuck, another intelligent scofflaw who insists on doing things his own way. He refuses to put periods at the end of his sentences. What do you think of that, I wonder? Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota PS. I have noted that your recent postings are in the correct style. Keep up the good work!

The shop I visited only had a new Speed in stock so I didn't get to ride it. Meanwhile I rode the Sidewinder. What a strange creature that is. Fun to test ride in a parking lot but I'd never want to take one on the road. Imagine somebody thinking that we might actually want to brake steer. I'll be going back there and I'm sure they will have a Road and I'll ride it. Amazing amounts of brake steer, which for the first couple of stops I found quite alarming (being a bike man most of the time a gentle squeeze of the front brake is enough to slow things up, but that gives a sharp turn on the Kett). But after a while you can actually use it to do handbrake turns, which are good fun! As is the Kettwiesel as a whole package.
