Ed Dolan the Great has ever been the bulwark of ARBR, a newsgroup otherwise totally unrekable. But Greatness will out! ARBR would now be as dead as the proverbial door nail if it were not for Ed Dolan the Great. He is striving mightily to drag some others to the newsgroup to save it from atrophy and decay. A more pitiful newsgroup has never existed in the realm of Usenet. It has been our eternal misfortune to attract nothing but Freds who live to go slow on their bikes and to boast about how slow they are. Most of the members of ARBR also like to ramble on a lot about things that seem to have no relevance to the world we are living in. I attribute all of these phenomena to the fact that ARBRs' are old and getting ready to fall into the grave. I do not believe we have ever had any teenagers on this forum. Ed Dolan the Great will carry on even though the gates of Hell prevail against him. Tom Sherman has left us, but apparently not for greener pastures as I cannot find him anywhere on Usenet. And so we are left with nothing but flotsam and jetsam. But Ed Dolan the Great will soldier on regardless of the tempests that reign internally. Ed, you are just so Great! Many thanks for all you do for this newsgroup. Without you it would be nothing but a graveyard. Yea, the headstones are all about, but we are not yet dead! Ed Dolan the Great says full speed ahead - and damn the torpedoes! Regards, Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota aka Saint Edward the Great - Order of the Perpetual Sorrows - Minnesota PS. Ed, we also appreciate your Great Saintliness. Holiness has fallen on hard times of late and there is hardly anyone left to take on the human scum that exists everywhere all around us. Keep up the good work!

But anything specific to one group should not be posted to any other group. That should be the general rule. ARBR seems to be making something of a comeback so I will not drag other groups onto ARBR unless the subject is somehow mysteriously all about me. I know everyone on these groups wants to stay current on Ed Dolan the Great and there is no reason why anyone should be deprived of his wit and wisdom as long as it is of a general nature and not specific to a newsgroup. GaryG, I have followed your past and recent skirmishes with the dynamic duo ... Mike & Ed and in every single engagement, it is grossly apparent that there is only one rational voice in the arena of discussion. Only one has his head screwed on straight and demonstrate that he is in touch with reality and exercises common sense and it is not the self-indulent, twisted and unbalanced Mike or Ed. Keep up the good work, Gary. Hopefully these two can get a group discount from a therapist, but helping restore normality to either would likey be a career in itself. What a couple of whakos. The only reason you favor ARBR is because you enjoy looking up at other people. Maybe this "Tom Sherman" found riding in traffic more enjoyable than sharing usenet with you. Yes, ed, many thanks for the entertainment! Many thanks for giving us an example of "There but for the grace of God is us". Please, keep it up. Some of us haven't had a good laugh in a while. We need it. Top posting is fun, low in calories and cholesterol, biodegradeable and part of a healthy lifestyle. Plus, as an added bonus, it really pisses him off. You are begging the question > (assuming what you are supposed to PROVE). Two points, Mike: 1) The shabbily dressed man in my example above truly believes in the "truth" of his cause, regardless of how many people try to convince him that he's deluded. Isn't it true that the people closest to you in the real world have tried to convince you that you are misguided, and that you're wasting your time and talents? Have you cut off contact with people you were formerly close to because of your obsessions with mountain biking? FWIW, these are clear warning signs of mental health problems. 2) This thread was about Ed Dolan, not mountain biking. This shows just how obsessed and mentally disturbed you really are...you can't even ignore a thread on a completely separate topic. Seek help, Mike...it's never too late. This shows just > how > obsessed and mentally disturbed you really are...you can't even ignore a > thread on a completely separate topic. A thread is only about its' topic for the first few messages, after which the conversation will begin to wander and can end up being about anything at all. This is elementary and one of the very first things I learned when I started reading Usenet messages. And thank God for it too. Any thread that stays strictly on topic is inhuman. Usenet conversations are like real conversations that way. If you would like a forum where everyone stays on topic all of the time, then you need to get to a moderated forum where an editor will have you toeing the line. Usenet is absolutely doomed because of this lack of moderation. I think in another few years it will just be a bunch of guys swearing and cussing at one another - and then it will be shut down altogether after a few murders take place. The future will be one of nothing but websites with moderated forums. Regards, Ed Dolan the Great - Minnesota aka Saint Edward the Great - Order of the Perpetual Sorrows - Minnesota

Mr. Vandeman is amazingly single-minded and rational compared to all the idiots (mountain bikers) that want to take him on. Is Ed Dolan rational? Is Ed Dolan single-mined? Not so you would notice, but what is real and what is put on? Poor GaryG will never know or even have a clue. Why? Because he takes himself seriously. This is a tremendous mistake on Usenet. He should contemplate my signature more and his own opinions less. The Great Ed Dolan loves to ramble and take on all kinds of subjects. I present certain outrageous points of view for the consideration of conventional types like GaryG. It is only his totally predictable reactions that furnish any amusement to me on these forums. I tweak and he twitches! Hang in there GaryG, I have got a million conundrums for you to ponder. By the way, I shall post only to ARBR and RBM as far as these personal threads about me are concerned. Mountain bikers are so far beyond the pale that I would not want to be caught dead on that forum. Also, RBS is for Vandeman and Curtiss. I have enough idiots to contend with on ARBR without taking on mountain biker idiots like GaryG. I leave such as them to Mr. Vandeman. So keep your posts coming to ARBR and I will be delighted to answer all your queries and clear your mind of your perpetual cobwebs. Thanks for illustrating my point, ED. Your own words make it abundantly clear that you're nothing more than a sad fear-ridden weirdo. Like most folks, you crave human contact, but your fears prevent that from happening in the real world. Thus, you've crafted this schtick here on Usenet as the "great Saint"...at least you get *some* attention, even if it's nearly all ridicule. Hey guys - Triumphantly trumpets the TROLL: >[The TROLL, referring to himself in the third person, >bizarrely enough] will carry on even though the gates >of Hell prevail against him. Gee, and I thought sure HELL was on his side... >[The TROLL] will soldier on regardless of the tempests >that reign internally. "Tempests that reign internally"? Sounds to me like cheap red wine sloshing around in his sotted old brain again... >Yea, the headstones are all about, but we [presumably >the TROLL and another of his shadow puppet user names?] >are not yet dead! Well, okay, but it's never too soon to plan for one's future, and after (roughly) forty-seven iterations of the TROLL's banal, plagiarized pseudo-eulogy, it occurs to me that he seriously needs a bit of help with a much more credible and relevant one, at least for this newsgroup. I'll start the ball rolling for him, while we still (probably, regrettably) have lots of time to polish and refine a fitting final farewell for this forum [finally, for real!]. Herewith, the first draft: The TROLL was never dear, but is departed - A sort of public service in a way. A few folks claimed that they were brokenhearted, But grins and giggles gave them all away. The truth is tough, but TROLLS are not quite human; They're more like soulless zombies - it's a fact. Their hearts are hard black lumps of coal (bitumen) Too cramped to harbor kindness, love or tact. For his small heart, this old TROLL compensated, Relying on his overactive spleen. He ranted, raved, contested and berated; The TROLL was, simply stated, rude and mean. He wrote his posts in venom from his bowels, Without regard for those he'd maim or slay. Like militants who wrap their heads in towels, He terrorized these newsgroups every day. With Medicare providing drugs and surgeons, His mortal tenure lasted far too long. It's ended now, without six dozen virgins To greet the TROLL and his old withered schlong. Smooth bike paths up above the TROLL's not riding; Valhalla didn't make a place for him. No spaceship in a comet slyly hiding, The odds for his ascension ultra-slim. Old Lucifer had dibs on Mr. Dolan; The signs were plain as anything could be: A jerk whose only joy in life was TROLLin' - Now fodder for a fiendish fricassee. Regards, Wayne

Too bad no one, but no one, reads verse anymore. Hells Bells, unless you were not writing about me, I would not read you either. Well, you write for your audience of one (me) and I will continue to write for my audience of thousands. Unfortunately for Wayne, he has never yet learned what a troll is. I refer him to the posts of Ed Gin of a couple of winters ago on ARBR if he would like to get informed on something that he is totally ignorant of.
