Hello
Excuse me for my bad English. I seek people who modified Haas Kett Wiesel.
I bought Haas Kett Wiesel three years ago.
It was my first bicycle. I did not have any satisfaction with this bicycle
because after two or three kilometers, the chain was always blocked and the
shifting track yielded.
Never the salesman or Haas did not agree to help me.
Did the salesman having been replaced by another more serious, it explain me
that after only ten uses, the framework (cental beam) was split (broken) ???
That the guides of chain were folded in the beginning.
And especially that the shifting track was a large defect on the bicycle
Kett Wiesel because it was too low and the least bump on the ground folds
the shifting track.
My question is :
Did somebody in the forum move or replaced the shifting track on a bicycle
Haas Kett Wiesel ?
Somebody it tried to weld a protection so that the shifting track is
protected.
Unfortunately, the Haas firm does not answer any mail and with the
telephone, the two only councils that this firm gave me is to sell my
bicycle on Ebay (after 10 uses) or to assemble a speed drive.
It is my first bicycle and I acknowledge you whom I do not know what is a
speed drive????
Large thank you!

Hello,
there's a very good (belgian) site (in french) about HPV:
http://users.skynet.be/ligfiets/

The french speaking (writing) mailgroup you find:
http://www.ihpva.org/mailman/listinfo/vph

And the french HPV-association is:
http://www.ihpva.org/chapters/france/

I think you will find a lot of help and useful tips.

Bizarre. The dealer should be the first to help you.
By the way, Waltrop, Germany, the place of the Hase factory is about 3
hours by car from South-Belgia.

Âllo,
il y a un très bon site (belgique) francophone sur les vph's:
http://users.skynet.be/ligfiets/

Un mailgroup francophone sur les vélo couchés vous trouvez à:
http://www.ihpva.org/mailman/listinfo/vph

Hello everyone
Thank you for your answers.
I must say that a problem of health (balance) prevented me from having
happiness to roll in 2 wheels bike until today.
I discovered the bicycle Hase Kettwiesel with happiness but for 3 years I
have been able to only use it + - 10 times with each time a new problem.
I am not a specialist and I write lot of letters to request assistance and
explanations to the Hase firm which unfortunately never answers.
The only time or Hase answered me the telephone was to say to me to sell my
bicycle on ebay and to buy the new model or to assemble a speed drive on my
bicycle.
Hase fortunately will promise to weld me the cracks of my frame.
What worries to me is that this framework is destroyed after + - 50
kilometers of use.
May be i must reinforce it??
I know that a beginner asking for stupid questions.
I read that one of the problems of Hase was that its shifting track was
assembled too low and indeed, the least bump is likely to destroy the
shifting track.
When I bought my bicycle, the salesman said to me that Hase showed films
with KettWiesel used in the desert of Nevada???? I know I made confidence
with the salesman.
The bicycle lying is practised unfortunately little in french Belgium and
the language is a problem also.
It is because at 50 years I discover happiness to roll at bike (better late
than never) than I would like to be able to use this bicycle without
problems and than I dared to write with the list in spite of my bad English.
Thanks to you, I know already that a speed drive will not solve my problem
and I have some ways of reflexion.
I will contact Mr k Stonich thank you for this good information.
Thank you for the kindness for your answers and the assistance given to a
beginner.

I am not sure that I understand the history or nature of the problem
with your Kettwiesel, but if you want to get it fixed I am quite sure
that the metal tubing used is quite standard (for bikes) steel, and
probably any competent frame builder near you should be able to work out
how to fix it, or at least give an opinion/price.

The Speed Drive is an internally-geared crank and axle set made by
Florian Schlumpf in Switzerland. It provides two speeds without using
a front mech and has an excellent reputation for quality. However, I
don't see how this would solve your problem. Last I knew, cost for the
Speed Drive was about 900 euros.

However, k Stonich (http://bikesmithdesign.com/) has repaired and
modified at least one Kett with what may have been the same basic
issues. Whether it would be worth shipping to the States and back, or
whether he could help you with getting the right things done by a local
machinist or bike builder, I don't know. I suggest you correspond with
him, or perhaps post in the trikes section of www.bentrideronline.com
where he is likely to see your post.

Best of luck,

John

I think a speed drive would make changing gears function (shift) in the
front part of the chain because the derailleur (shifter) is in the back
area and hitting the ground. If it is hitting the ground, building a
cage or protection would not help.

I wish I could be of more help, but I am only guessing!
