I am trying to do this a a (shoestring) budget! I am in need of a stem for 1 inch threaded forks. I need about an extra 6 inches or so of leg clearence for my swb. I have seen several options from stem risers to swan style high rise stems to stems to convert to standard non threaded style stems, for which there are even more options. Or perhaps I am approaching this in the wrong direction. Custom bent bars? I have seen and read about custom bars made from conduit. Has any one tried this, and were the result satisfactory? I have seen very long stems for taller people in the past ('60s) and many Chinese built cruiser version bikes recently (past year). If someone sells unusal bikes coming in boxes with "Made In China" printed on the box, that may be a good place to look. I know they are around, but can only guess where to look. I am (or was) looking for 2 stems to make "pistol grip" handlebars, and those older 10-speed stems might be useful to you- some are longer than most of them. Chris

Try contacting the folks at Easy Racers - http://www.easyracers.com/ The stem on their Tour Easy/GRR sounds like what you need. (1" threaded with a very long shaft).
