I have QuickTime on my computer and wanted to play some linked QuickTime movies on Row Bikes. Instead of being usable, the QuickTime links take me to an upgrade site set up by Apple. Just one more reason why Apple has lost ket share - I just wanted see some Row Bikes, and instead have to put up with endless ads. Has anyone used a Row Bike? What is it like. For anyone wondering what a row bike is visit www.rowningbike.com Doug Thomas Welland, Ontario Now for those of you who think that fast is not that hot, but comfort is, visit www.bikeforest.com and watch the couchbike movie. > Has anyone used a Row Bike? What is it like. I met Scott Olsen nine or ten years ago at Interbike [when it was still in California], and rode the prototype of his Rowbike there; it was a bit heavy and clunky, but I was surprised at how well it steered, and how quickly I could rocket away from a stop with one great manly heave. A few years later, in Spring 1998 I rode a much better production model, and found it to be a surprisingly good bike. I enjoyed rowing it about on level ground, but I certainly wouldn't want to row it up California's mountain passes, which I have done on both my old Fuji and my Tour Easy. The newest Rowbike is somewhat shorter then those earlier versions, on which the seat was stationary, and the rider's feet would push against the bottom of the rowing lever, rather than against stationary pegs, as on the new model. -- "Bicycling is a healthy and manly pursuit with much to recommend it, and, unlike other foolish crazes, it has not died out." -- The Daily Telegraph (1877)

Re: Recumbent Racer Glen Drury sets course record That is quite an impressive accomplishment. Who is the rider and what bike did he ride? Was he in a F-40? Stan Vinson P38 ...................................................................... ......................................................... Recumbent cycles entered the 400km cycle for the first time (as a separate category), with Glen Druryclocking the impressive time of 11:57:37. With the popularity of the recumbents, the race is likely to be open next year to other specialist cyclists (all scored in different categories). Of the regular cyclists, the best time was from David Simpfendorfer of the Filthy Armadillo team, with 13:46:17. http://www.srichinmoyraces.org/au/results/ultrareport >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ultra Joe

Actually Tom, I think they're talking about something other than the Thys... which is the top-of-the-line rowbike, as far as I'm concerned. Although Warren Berger has an afterket upgrade to the Thys that makes it even better. I rode Warren's bike briefly, on my way down to that... you know... misery thing. -- --Scott "Tom Sherman" <tsherman@qconline.com > wrote in message news:3609suF4sdl5mU1@individual.net... > doug thomas wrote: > >> ... >> For anyone wondering what a row bike is visit www.rowningbike.com... > > Is the seat cover standard equipment: > <http://www.rowingbike.com/images/openingsfoto.jpg>? > > -- > Tom Sherman - Earth >
