Subject: Sharing Maps
I am looking for a useful way to share ride maps with groups like this.
Tools I have are Streets and Trips and Garmin Mapsource (all of my maps
start here). I have Gooogle World but have to say I don't find it very
friendly to use.

Any suggestions?

On Wed, 31 May 2006 Roland asked about sharing maps:

I've not used Streets/Trips. I wrote a bike-specific application that uses
the free Census "Tiger-Line" mapping data. I use it on Linux, but ported
it to Windows. If you trust me or just want to live dangerously, give it
a shot:

http://www.afn.org/~wilson/map.zip

The archive contains the application, a sample map (of my home county),
and a brief manual. Although I accidentally omitted the license agreement
from the archive, the sources are available under the GPL, but please
don't ask unless you really intend to use them.

I use it to lay out brevet
routes. A couple other members of my club use it to lay out century routes.

It seems to me this would be a perfect Google Ajax application, but I
don't know JavaScript or GWT, and I have no desire to learn.

Try www.gmap-pedometer.com. I tend to combine those routes with a
simple text-based cue sheet.
