Sigh ... please review the antics of the Clinton administration. If he
hadn't been so busy getting blow jobs under his desk at the White House,
maybe this nation would have been better prepared to deal with the Muslim
terrorists. The fact is that everyone was asleep at the wheel, and no one
more so then Clinton.

Only the Great Ed Dolan was never asleep at the wheel. Hells Bells, I have
always wanted to kill Muslims ever since the Crusades. They have ruined the
Middle East, formerly a Christian stronghold prior to the Arab conquest.
Nay, I say boot them all out of the Middle East and confine them to the
deserts of Arabia, their one and only true home.

When Spain finally ejected the Moors from the Iberian peninsula, it was one
of the proudest moments for Western Civilization. But the Arabs have no more
right to North Africa (the land of the Berbers) than they did to Spain.
Arabs are like a pox on the face of the earth. That is because they are
savages and their despicable religion (Islam) only makes them more so than
they already naturally are.

We of the West need to declare war on all the Arabs and speed them to an
early grave. They are like the Indians of the Americas, deserving only of
extermination. Where the Hell is Hitler when he is so badly needed for a
final solution to the Arab problem.

Canada -- it's close; they have lots of natural gas and oil, and they
speak English. Maybe we can get the indians and Quebequois to join in
with us, eh?. I know we tried this once before, but I think we could
pull it off this time with strong leadership from GWB. I get dibs on
Vancouver and the big swimming pool in Stanley Park -- and a ski condo
at Whistler. -- Jay Beattie.

Like the people who said Bush "won" the debate over Gore, because he
seemed more like a person they would want to hang out with at a
barbeque?

The whole idea of voting for politicians on personality or even
character is stupid. I don't care if someone is an unpleasant lying
bastard as long as he/she represents my interests, and not those of
the "old inherited money" class at the expense of people who actually
work for a living and contribute to society.

Mr. Sherman puts too high a value on "actually working for a living" as
opposed to the capitalist class which makes work productive by organizing it
with money.

Those of us who merely live off the fat of the land are necessary too and
our contributions to society are immeasurable. Yea, let's hear if for all
the loafers in the land! We can't all be worker ants like Mr. Sherman; some
of us have to be carefree grasshoppers like the Great Ed Dolan. Only a fool
would want to be like Mr. Sherman, forever cursed by his choice of
occupation (he is a civil engineer).

Now, please excuse me while I uncork this bottle of vino and get back to
something important like the Beethoven 32nd Piano Sonata.

I wouldn't call it a cheap shot. It is a huge jump from Iran to
Australia. I'd expect most kids in grade 8 to catch on. Mind you a
friend of mine did have a problem with Lisbon and Lebanon :)

At least the Gipper was a good actor and you can explain his part that
way. Dubya can only be explained by the dumbing down of the populace
(i.e. they can relate to a guy who only got "C" grades in school and
spent most of his time partying until age 45).

How about because the alternatives presented were dreadful. Bush actually
graduated with a masters degree and Al Gore never really graduated from anything
past high school. Looking at their respective grades at Yale, Bush outpointed
Kerry also.

Face it the kid saying things like "I understand it, but I think you need to
explain it more for the others" is really NOT the smartest guy in the room.

Class envy is saddest of all the afflictions of mankind. I am here to tell
you once and for all that the High and the Mighty like Ed Dolan the Great
also have their crosses to bear. The truth is that it is not possible to be
happy for long unless you have the IQ of an idiot.

If you want to envy something, may I suggest that you envy the ether. Here
is the bottom line for all of us:

PS. Mr. Sherman, instead of sitting around being envious of Great Ones like
Me, ought to find himself a hobby. I suggest that he work his way though the
symphonies, quartets and piano pieces of Shostakovich. That will keep him
busy for several years and distract him from his class envy, ever the curse
of the working class.

I bet Bush fed Gore faulty crib notes, and even though he'd earnestly
studied the material all school-year long (because it was really important,
you see), in the end the only thing that counted was what Bush said and not
the professors, text books, class discussions, guest lecturers, homework
assignments, etc. etc. etc.

Some things never change.

I agree that the map thing was sort of a cheap shot and that it is
possible that they edited what they filmed to show only the people
that didn't know where the countries where. However, the mix up wasn't

This is essentially taking a country out of its continent and putting

There's a name for this for this state of affairs. It's called dumbing
down. How does it happen? Well that should be obvious if you are capable
of thinking about it.

This sort of thing extends to virtually all opinion polls.

X% of the respondents think this or that. The poll results, if
it's in the political realm, becomes an actual news item for a
time (until the next poll), and politicians change their positions
based on them.

Although the poll takers will tell you the results are good to
plus/minus 2% or whatever, they never really tell you what
percent of the respondents where actually knowledgeable enough
on the issue to make any sort of informed decision!

The country is being indirectly controlled through the opinions
of the clueless!

There was a video a few months back where they would go ask people in
the streets which country they thought that the US should invade next.
People came up with all kinds of weird answers, but the favorite of
course was Iran.

Then they would ask people what would the US strategy be to invade
Iran. they would show them a map and ask people where the attack would
start , whether to use airplanes, ships, infantry etc. Of course, all
the countries had been mislabeled. Iran was Australia. So, people
would point to Australia and say "here is Iran", and we should come
from these areas with planes ships, etc.

Interesting. I'm sure a lot of people in the US are pretty ignorant
of world geography (I know I am, but at least I'm aware of this
ignornance -- there are even US states I would have trouble locating).

That said, that map bit strikes me as a somewhat cheap shot. I guess
putting Iran on Australia is so far off that any person daring to talk
about foreign policy should catch it, but I for sure could be fooled
by switching the location of a couple countries within, say the Middle
East and West Asia.

Or perhaps, any of the "new" countries of the former Soviet Union. I
used to know the globe fairly well, then they go and redo it!

I used to be an expert on world geography back in the 40's when Brittain
still had her empire. But, like Still Me, I get fed up with having to learn
new nations. Africa is now terra incognito to me when at one time I knew
every nation that existed on that continent. Much of it came from my
youthful stamp collecting days, but I just plain liked to look at maps.

I have now reached the stage in life where I refuse to learn anything new. I
go back to my father's Encyclopedia Britannica of 1911 (the scholar's
edition) when I want to know anything. That was as good as the world ever
got. It has all been going downhill ever since. WW I was the beginning of
the end for Western Civilization. I was born into the wrong century. I am a
19th century man. Screw the 20th century!

That is because I already know everything worth knowing. Or do you think
that one has to go through life constantly learning new things?

Check your facts, Mr. Ed. The Clinton Administration had developed
plans to counter-act Al Qaeda, but the Cheney/Bush Administration
tossed them on the basis of All Things Clinton Must Be Bad.

Arabia is part of the Middle East. Geography apparently is not a
strong point of Mr. Ed.

Who cares about plans when it was action that was called for.

Arabia is a spur (a peninsula) to the heartland of the Middle East. It is
nothing but a vast desert and is the one and only true home of the
despicable Arabs and their abominable Muslim religion.
