It is quite amusing to me how the group has responded to the brainless posts of Eco. However, I do not object. It simply means that the group is getting dumber and dumber, ever the way of all newsgroups. I do note a few liberal sentiments being expressed by Eco (global warming). He needs to know that any liberal- socialist-communist propaganda expressed on this newsgroup will meet with the most vociferous objections by the Great Ed Dolan. On the whole though Eco is nihil obstat. If you like to read brainless messages, then be my guest. I wonder where Tom Sherman has gone? I miss intellect on this group. Whatever else could be said about Tom Sherman, he was not an idiot like all the rest of you. However, some believe in rolling their own: http://www.phred.org/~josh/bike/boots.html I've contemplated attempting this with an old pair of Doc tens, but the ROI seems low. Best, Dan

Well, the advantage of the old style cleats was the damage you could do to the door of a car. I did it twice and it makes a hell of a sound before you actually run out of leg flex to where you feel at risk of being knocked over (this was on a diamond frame). OTOH, being young, in the military and in shape also helped with the risk thing. And I wouldn't try it on a car going over, say, 20 mph. A semi at 65 would probably be an adrenalin hit. Curtis L. They still need their mommies to run interference for them. Let's face it, some folks just never grow up. I rather like Tom Sherman being back on this group, but I will no longer allow him to play the role of the idiot. I KNOW him not to be an idiot and so I will expect intelligent messages from him. When he posts nonsense he will hear from me in very unpleasant ways. There are several things to said in Tom Sherman's favor. He does not top post and he tries to be fair to his responder. He is not into kill filing, so he knows what is going on in the group. And he does not want this group to be moderated, so that is highly in his favor as far as I am concerned. The one thing he needs to improve upon is how he edits other's posts to which he is responding. I will have to teach him how to do this properly. Finally, Mr. Sherman needs to come out of his shell more on this group. ARBR is dying for lack of intellectual stimulation. See the posts of Eco if you would know what I am talking about. A newsgroup needs some contention to make it interesting for all to read. After the nuts and bolts of recumbency, we want some thunder and lightning - don't we? If you want to die of boredom, then go to the BROL forum where they will accommodate you.
