LOL!

For someone as anal-retentive as you about facts you got this one
wrong!

I have never posted that we live in Alexandria, Minnesota. In fact, we
don't live in and have never lived in Alexandria, Minnesota. Don't
attribute Ed's mistakes to me please.

What posting of mine did I say I live in Alexandria, Minnesota?

I don't live in Alexandria anymore than you live in Moline. Or do you
live in Moline. I could care less.

Now who is being anal retentive? Perry actually lives in a very small burg
near Alexandria which no one in the entire world will ever have heard of.
Even Alexandria is not all that large, but it makes sense when you are from
nowhere that you indicate to others where you are from by citing the nearest
large town - which in this case happens to be Alexandria. Alexandria is just
another wretched town in Minnesota no different from hundreds of other
wretched towns in Minnesota.

I am from Worthington, but when I am telling others who are not from this
region where I am from, I most often mention that I am located near Sioux
Falls which is the nearest large city which others will have heard about. It
is just common sense to do this.

By the way, I find it unbelievable that Mr. Sherman ever did any such thing
as you suggest. If he did, it would change my opinion of him 180 degrees,
but I KNOW that he did not. The worse he has ever done is post links to
pictures of a horse and of horse manure in reference to me as he thinks it
is cute to refer to me as Mr. Ed, the talking horse of TV fame. There is no
accounting for a sense of humor but his is fairly innocuous and innocent.
Instead of making a false accusation, maybe you could put your brain and
your computer skills to good use and find out for us who did do the dirty
deed.

You're getting anal again! Whether it's a "WOMAN" or a man on a trike
or whether I read about her travels has nothing to do with this current
topic. You're always trying to divert the attention. We're talking
about you posting a link to a picture that you knew could take you to a
pornographic picture. Focus!

I believe that k Lueck did not know, or at least I hope he did not
know, when he posted that response that you directed people to a
pornographic picture.

Sorry Tommy, I know what crazyguyonabike is for and have read many
travels there.

I knew what both pictures were before I made my first response! Again,
stop trying to divert attention.

>Did you have some involvement?

While I have no problem with adults looking at adult pornography in
their own privacy I do not feel you should have put this picture on
ARBR. You knew where this link could take you! Again, Tommy, you like
to be cute!

The only involvement I have is exposing you for posting a link to a
pornographic picture!

Whether you like it or not, you are part of the others!

Actually, Tommy, my original posting was about you getting you jollies
off on posting a link that you knew could take you somewhere else. The
rest is an aside.

Perry Butler continues to dig himself deeper into the hole of looking
like an idiot. I think he should print out this thread and post it in
his classroom as an example to his students of proper online behavior.

Again - it's a picture of a cat and a trike - get over it!

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy

I never claimed that you created the "ninja a goatse attack." The
first time I looked at that picture it was blocked (content filtered)
in the school. When I went home I received the offending picture.
When I decided to see if there was some mistake it went to
crazyguyonabike. Knowing your sense of humor I realized you knew this
and that was why you posted the LAME picture of someone riding a trike
taking a picture of a cat on the side of the road. You really can't
help it Tommy is someone calls you on this!

Had you returned a simple response, as you usually do, I would have
believed you were innocent. It was your response that made me sure you
knew where that link could go. You've taken ARBR to an even lower
level.

I agree that the original person who planted this switch should be
publically revealed.

Perry Butler complains about off-topic posts, then he continues to post
drivel such as this. He should also be concentrating on teaching his
students while at work, not posting to Usenet.

Lewis,

The Perry Butler in this thread is a man with a wife named Terry, and
lives in Alexandria, Minnesota (according to his postings on
alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent).

The Perry from Louisiana is much more polite and does not post
unwarranted sexual innuendo.

For what it's worth, if I follow the snipurl link in internet explorer
I get the photo of the cat & the trike. If I follow the full link in
internet explorer I get the photo of the cat & the trike.

If I follow this link:

http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/pics/docs/04/430/large/trainingwithbrowncat.jpg

with Firefox I get the photo of the cat & the trike.

On the other hand if **in Firefox** I add this little bit to the end of
that URL:

?v=12g

then I get the goatse guy.

I also get the goatse guy in Firefox if I follow the snipurl
(presumably because the snipurl includes the "?v=12g" when it
redirects).

I'll let you internet sleuths take it from there . . .

Interesting. Using the link that includes the "?v=12g" at the end, I
still get the trike and cat, with both Netscrape 7.1 and the ancient
version of Internet Exploder that I fired up for the sole purpose of
checking out the link.

The "goatse" attack is rather passe by now, one would think. I had heard
[1] that the "goatse dot cx" link had been removed.

The question still remains who had both the motive and means to "ninja a
goatse attack"? I am not upset about people claiming that I did it,
since that just reveals them to be idiots. Having the perpetrator
publicly revealed would be good thing in general principle, however.

Howdy Tom and others:

My experiences echo the others. When I checked the snipped link, it
directed me to a foul picture. The other links directed to the picture that
was obviously what you intended for all to see.

I'm curious though, as to your wanting this individual to be revealed. Is
it because they attacked you personally? It seems a bit of the pot calling
the kettle black here. By that I mean, when an individual whose identity
you DO know wrote on here making fun of the developmentally disabled, I
found that to be beyond the pale. The identity of THAT person, I think,
should have been revealed so that they could back up their cowardly and
ill-informed (as well as completely NOT FUNNY) comments with something other
than pseudonyms...

This person attributing nastiness to you was definitely uncalled for, but is
it really any worse than what this other individual has done in insulting
groups of people, some who are not in a position to advocate for themselves?

As for Johnny NoCom, I know the identity to the preponderance of the
evidence standards, but not beyond a reasonable doubt standard. For that
reason alone, I would not post it here.

Thinking the picture of the cat was cute; I emailed the link to someone
living in a foreign country. Fortunately it opened for this person to
the correct picture, since opening the "goatse" picture could not only
have resulted in loss of employment for that person, but possible
criminal penalties for viewing obscenities. Needless to say, I was not
amused at all by this possibility. If the person who hacked the link
finds still finds this amusing, then he/she is morally bankrupt.

Howdy Tom:

You'll get no argument from me on that, but I would add strongly that the
person to which you are certain (but not to a statistical certainty) posted
the defamatory comments about developmentally disabled individuals is
equally morally bankrupt. Perhaps they're even more so because the group
they targeted is a group that is at a disadvantage most times in trying to
advocate for themselves.

No, I'll be doing the Tour de Palm Springs that weekend probably on my

Very good, Zach. I saw that ride listed, have heard it is beautiful and

Hi, Tom, someone if definitely manipulating you here.

Yesterday that short URL took me to a distasteful picture when I

Today that same short URL is taking me to the _proper_ picture.

You and I have engaged in some bantering over a period of several years

It really disappoints me to see you being maligned in this manner.

Kind regards.

I see that expatriate Englishman Lewis has lived long enough in the (US)
South to learn the misspelling/mispronunciation of "pervert".

It should be noted that k Leuck thought that Perry Butler was acting
like a lunatic for inferring all sorts of things from a picture of a
trike and a small cat. ;)

Tom, it goes without saying that you are highly regarded on this newsgroup
and no one would ever think any such thing about you. Perish the thought and
do not give it any more heed.

I get to know people by what they say in their posts and I think I know you
rather well by now. I would trust my life to you if need be. All our
disagreements are just fun and games and I know that is how you see it too.
The more I get to know you, the more I admire you. As I have said many times
before, you are yin to my yang. ARBR would be dead without you.

Your ultimate essence is that of a gentleman, the quality I admire most in
my fellow human beings.

Lewis,
Are you thinking about Perry "Bentcajungirl" who lives near New Orleans,
rides a Vision R-40 solo, a "Double Vision" with her husband Lep, has an
El Camino that is "a work in progress", and runs a sewing business (she
made the seat mesh for the Comfort Cycle [1] trikes)?

When I clicked on both the snipurl.com link you first posted and the
crazyguyonabike.com link you posted above I saw an image of a man
sticking his fingers into his rectum. I am using a Mozilla browser.

When I click on the link I posted I still get the picture of the cat
from the trike rider's perspective. Floyd (the world's slowest trike
rider), k Leuck, "Bwian", and Limey Lewis (from his browser) all saw
the picture of the trike and cat. Perry Butler, Zach and Limey Lewis
(from Google) saw a picture of a nude man performing acts that some
might consider immoral.

Something odd is going on here - could the host server have been hacked?
Here is the main link to the photo journal by Heidi Domeisen about
riding a trike to Alaska and back:

I trust the statements of Lewis and Zach (assuming it is actually them
and not someone spoofing their identities). That leaves the question of
who would have both the ability and motive to substitute a picture that
most would find offensive in place of one that most would find either
cute or innocuous.

Tommy, Tommy, Tommy

Look at your response to my original response. If you only knew it was just
a picture of a man on a trike taking a picture of a cat on the side of the
road there would be no reason for you going ballistic in your response to
me. Your responses are getting more like Ed's every day.

Let's face it, the reason you posted the link to these pictures is you knew
every so often it would take you to the picture of your buddy Ed.
Apparently you find this cute! Although my guess is you enjoyed the picture
of Ed!

Tommy, you obviously don't know what Usenet is for!

Tommy, you obviously don't know what ARBR is for!

A 30 year old man who spends this much time on Usenet really should get a
life or perhaps find his life!

Enjoy,

Perry B

Actually, it is a picture of a WOMAN on a trike, not a man, which Mr.
Butler would know if he had actually looked at the website. I wondered
(as did k Leuck) what all the fuss was about since it was just a
picture of a trike and a cat.

Mr. Butler thinks Usenet is for posting baseless speculation about other
peoples lives.

> A 30 year old man who spends this much time on Usenet really should get a
> life or perhaps find his life!

This is advice from someone who has nothing better to do than fling
baseless accusations about.

I used to believe that Ed Dolan was the biggest Minnesota nutcase on
Usenet, but I have changed my opinion. k Leuck is right in this case
- Mr. Butler needs to get a grip.

Did anyone else notice that there was no problem with the picture until
Mr. Butler jumped all over the issue? And that he did not bother to look
at the rest of the website to see that something was obviously amiss (as
any idiot could tell from the URL they were taken too? The "crazy guy on
a bike" website is fairly well known in cycling circles, and the
"trainingwithbrowncat.jpg" is a giveaway to the picture's true subject
matter.

So Mr. Butler, why did you fail to do any basic research on what the
picture should have really been? Did you have some involvement?

Mr. Butler continually complains about others ruining the newsgroup, yet
all his recent postings have been nothing but personal innuendo.

Minnesota brews nut cases like no other state in the union. You should read
the Star Tribune, the newspaper of the Twin Cities, to get a hint of what I
am talking about. But the point needs to be made that all the nut cases in
Minnesota are liberal nuts like Perry Butler. He probably would prefer
someone like Michael Moore (a big fat treasonous white man with no brain who
is also as ugly as a pig) to be President and would gladly vote for such a
slob.

Yes, Minnesota is just chock full of nuts, but I am one of the few sane
persons to be found in the entire state. That is because I am living in the
SW corner of the state and am therefore being strongly influenced by the
good rock solid folks in Iowa and South Dakota. Minnesota has always been
for the nut cases in the land. Did we not produce Stassen, McCarthy,
Mondale, Humphrey, etc.

Wow, that's quite a hack. One pic is a little furry pussy running away from
somone on a trike, and over at google there's a picture of Fabby after a
hard day on the ass hatchet. Or maybe it's that nut job from Minnysoda doing
an extreme moon. C'mon Dolan, fess up. Is that you? What an ugly ass.

Al, I strongly suspect that it is your ass that is on display. I myself
would not even know how to go about doing any such thing on the web as I am
a total ignoramus when it comes to all this computer crap. Hells Bells! I
just got a computer a couple of years ago. However, Perry Butler knows about
stuff like this as he is a computer instructor.

If others of you could see how little I know about computers, you would be
amazed. I only learn what I have to learn in order to do certain things.
Other than that, I have very little interest in the Internet. I will go to
my grave forever ignorant of most things having to do with the computer and
the Internet.

Under normal circumstances I do not throw out accusations without
evidence, but turnabout is fair play, after all.

A certain person has been posting to alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent that I
am homosexual, but that person's contentions have no basis in fact.

What would be a better way for that person to make his case than to
replace a linked picture of recumbent cycling activity with one that
would be typically be found on a site containing sexually explicit
material of interest to male homosexuals?

Maybe Ed Dolan is on to something here?

Whoever did it is obviously a coward who is afraid to settle disputes
the proper way – public discussion on the group using his/her real name.

Cute one Tom!

When I use my newsreader I see a guy on a trike following a cat.

When I use Google Groups I get something completly different.

Try going to Google Groups and clicking on the url.

Of course Tom, I suspect that you know that!

I wonder if there was a temporary Snipurl malfunction or an
incompatibility with micro$oft internet exploder (sic)?

The intention was to show the picture of the trike/rider following the
cat. See
<http://www.crazyguyonabike.com/pics/docs/04/430/large/trainingwithbrowncat.jpg?v=12g >.

I have no idea what the other picture is/was. I am using a Mozilla based
browser, which may explain why I do not see the "mystery" picture.

There are many opportunities for malfunction or maliciousness
when linking through services that map one URL to another...
There may also be malfunctions or hacks at the actual target
site. Cited content may also be changed intentionally by
the owner...

Links to the actual target site may preferable be even if URLs
are long. These allow the reader to better evaluate the source
before they "click through" rather than having to "click blindly".
For archival purposes, direct link URLs may also remain valid
longer than mapped links.

I'm using FireFox and don't see any mystery picture either

I think a vast majority of people would agreee that the person who
posted the link to that picture has "some serious psychological issues
that need attention." You posted the picture! I didn't!

So Mr. Butler, do you still maintain that posting a picture of a cat
taken from the perspective of a trike rider indicates serious
psychological issues?

Since Mr. Butler likes to throw out unfounded accusations, I shall
return the favor. One can only wonder if he was the instigator in
replacing a cute picture of a cat with one of a naked man performing an
act generally considered distasteful to obscene? He certainly had the
motive, based on the evidence of his past posts.

The trike in the picture is a Trimuter; a Catrike would have been more
appropriate.

Do you think the cat's wiskers are acting as vortex generators? Is there an
optimal tail length that would minimize turbulent flow within the drafting
zone?

It's easy to see the web sites you spend your time on or was this a
personal picture?

Check out the time I started this thread (Jan 19, 8:41 pm) [1], then
look at the time message #5 in the linked thread was posted (Jan 16,
11:45 am):

See where the second URL in message #5 by Jeff Wills leads. If that
image had been something involving male hominid nudity and
autoeroticism, rather than a trike and a cat, would not someone from
rec.bicycles.tech have commented on it?

The website in question is an account of riding a trike [1] to Alaska
and back. Therefore the site is of general recumbent, trike, and cycle
touring interests.

An interest in cats is entirely healthy behavior - people who dislike
cats are mentally defective.

The website and picture are obviously not mine.

Mr. Butler's continuing insinuations of homosexual preferences in others
are not clever, nor are they accurate. They do indicate that Mr. Butler
either has a childish mentality, or some serious psychological issues
that need attention. [Yawn]

[1] A new trike was obtained partway through the journey, so actually
two trikes, ridden sequentially.
