Something truly magical is occurring.

Are Ed and Pat about to be lured together and discover each others
charms?

And find true love?

I dimly recall that love was something I used to dream about as a teenager.
Well, that was over half a century ago and it has ever alluded me. I think
it is because it does not exist, except in the dreams of teenagers.

I grow old . I grow old .
I shall wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled.

Shall I part my hair behind? Do I dare to eat a peach?
I shall wear white flannel trousers, and walk upon the beach.
I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each.

I do not think that they will sing to me.

I have seen them riding seaward on the waves
Combing the white hair of the waves blown back
When the wind blows the water white and black.

We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.

Love exists as surely does poetry.

Our strange species depends upon it
to propagate itself.

But for the ordinary man, he doesn't
ever realise how much he pays for it.

One has to be Stoinkingly Rich to be able to say
you don't notice the price of love.

I tell shielas I who I don't think I could love
that I prefer a 4 hour ride on a bicycle.

And not once has any one of them reacted with..
"Well OK...can I come along too?"

Patrick Turner.

Every other animal species manages to propagate itself just fine without the
delusion of love. All that is necessary is sex, not love.

Anyone but me ever notice how most marriages only last about 10 years at
which point you could care less about your freaking wife, and vice versa of
course.

Its is simple. Women (at some point) demand marriage in return for sex.
Men marry for sex, women marry for a sperm donor and provider/protector
for "HER" children. Women often lose interest in sex after having their
brood of brats, which results in the man losing interest in the
relationship. Man finds other outlet for sex and/or asks to end the
relationship. Woman takes man to the cleaners in divorce court.

Many men are even suckers enough to raise other men's children - a good
number of married women get pregnant by someone other than their husband.

It works from an evolutionary point of view, since offspring are
produced, but it is terrible from a human happiness point of view.

Amazing how great minds think alike on matters of sex. I couldn't agree more
with Mr. Sherman than on the points he makes above.

The fact is that men and women are very different. I noticed this from my
earliest years. The whole and entire purpose of sex is to spread those genes
around. That is what men are for. However, women are for the birthing and
raising of offspring. They are all about reproduction and not much else.

The bottom line is that men are bamboozled by sex. Women have got it right.
They allow men to fuck them, but in the end it is the men who get royally
fucked.

The absolute best and most incisive post from Tom this year. Kudos, Tom

But animals are not capable of what we call love.

Anyway, without love sex is impossible for many humans.
You are quite stupid to believe that love is a mere delusion.
There are many people who would agree with me.

Yeah sure, just about all the world realizes love and marriage ain't
forever,
but so what? divorce serves its purpose when you are through with
someone.
Then ppl re-marry, re-partner, whatever.
Some marry 4 times. Good luck to them all I say,
and I hope they can afford it.

Go back to your Bicycle Ed, its safer territory than social science.

Nor are we!

I have never heard of a human being for whom sex is not possible without
love. What planet are you from anyway?

But I am telling you that sex is not forever either. It depends on lust
which properly speaking belongs only to teenagers. Hells Bells, the rest of
us are too damn ugly even for lust.

I am a side dish on these cycling newsgroups. You only read me when you are
tired of all the idiot cyclists.

Crap on. They don't compare. Patrick has something to say, relevant
even. Ed is a waste of electrons.

Welcome Patrick!
