Hi there.
Logged on to this group for recumbent news/info.
How sad it seems to be full of non-recumbenting trolls.
Will look back in a few weeks.

I'm in RBM. Ed Dolan (Deity bless his shit-disturbing
ass) crossposted from ARBR to here.

I'm sure your recumbent riding wife is a
mainstay to you, and I wish both of you a
furthermore long & happy relationship.

How many other recumbent riding women do you
get to see per diem?

In the pages of Ligfiets& there are usually quite a few (although still
a clear minority). In the flesh I know a couple more. OTOH, amongst
serious roadies they're a clear minority too, and in terms of
proportions I wouldn't be surprised if they were similar.

Y'mean like daring to ride a /real/ bicycle?

Y'know what? I've heard of women recumbent riders,
but I've never seen any. Whuzzup with that?

I see lots o' women riding normal bikes. Sometimes
I even get to socially interact with them, in a
"small talk" sort of way -- usually at stoplines &
stoplights.

But the few recumbent riders I encounter are always
men, and they don't wanna talk to anybody. I dunno
if they're antisocial, or just too embarrassed to
talk to anybody. Or maybe they're just a bunch of
shy, underconfident nerds?

Hey guys -

Sii-ii-ii-iigh... here we go again. Yes, Tam, Virginia
and all the other folks who peek in at ARBR to see if
things might be getting a little bit better. Well, the
simple answer is: Sorry, no, not yet. The trouble with
ARBR - to borrow a phrase - is still the TROLL.

Today the tenaciously trenchant old TROLL is teasingly
titillating us with its thrillingly tempting tender to
terminate its terrorist tendencies on our turf, turning
to trash two or three tyro teams... But don't get your
hopes up, folks.

MINOR DIGRESSION: For several months now, the TROLL has
been blathering about its "seminal" messages, seemingly
thinking the word has something to do with preparing us
for its departure. Of course that word actually has two
other meanings, and it's pretty obvious, I think, that
this time it wasn't 'original'. Was this instead yet
another Freudian slip by the TROLL, perhaps indicating
some veracity in irreverent speculation by some of its
detractors about what its right hand is doing below the
keyboard while its left is busily tapping out typos?

Anyway, please take this message as another reminder
that the most effective method for minimizing the harm
the TROLL has done and will continue doing to this
newsgroup is simply to ignore it, and focus only on
the on-topic or at least amusingly entertaining content
posted for the group. Don't respond to any threads the
TROLL starts. Don't EVER reply to it directly. Don't
acknowledge any insults, speculations, challenges,
ridiculous taunts, or even outright lies it posts about
you personally; who the HELL cares what it thinks?

Please refrain from even addressing any of the TROLL's
content in its posts to other threads, on or off topic.
Historically, one of its most common ploys to weasel
its way back into public recognition has been to post
a response that's almost relevant, but which will lead
(sooner more likely than later) to posturing with one
of its trite, facetious 'facts' or 'opinions'. Real
facts: recumbent development did not end with the EZ-1
and/or TerraTrike V1.6; thousands of folks are quite
content to have spent more than $500 on their bikes;
many, if not most of them, ride around perfectly happy
with crank brackets higher than a foot or so below their
seats, some even [GASP!] above their behinds; tadpoles
are routinely ridden by fairly normal people at speeds
of 15 MPH and beyond with very few fatalities, crashes
or even a seriously threatening loss of control, either
coasting or even [GASP!] while briskly pedaling. Even if
the TROLL is really, honestly so damned stupid that it
can't recognize this kind of basic truths, it's clearly
also way too damned stubborn for anything any of us are
going to say to change its feeble mind.

Simply put, the best advice for dealing with this TROLL
[deja vu] is: Don't read it; don't heed it; don't feed
it; don't breed it.

One more reminder for those who enjoy a bit of humor
in poetry and prose about the TROLL: our website has
a small section called 'Here There be TROLLS' -

http://www.32go.us/pow/htbt/index.htm

which is altruistically provided for the amusement of
all those who have been annoyed, insulted, irritated,
offended or dismayed by the antisocial, BAD behavior
of ARBR's truculent TROLL over the last three years.

I've recently posted a new poem, as well as adding a
couple of other choice bits (by request) from the past.
The first two lines of the newest poem are:

The 'trouble' ARBR has is no surprise;
It's one old fool who's wizened but not wise.

Enjoy the fun; endure the TROLL if you possibly can.

Regards,
Wayne

If 'better" for ARBR is more topical content then the only thing that
facilitate that is more on-topic posts. Simply checking in, telling
us that the state of the newsgroup is [still] a disappointment, and
then disapperaing won't change any thing. Why not stick around
to contribute more of what you'd like to see?

Troll for recumbent content!

This forlorn character is Jon Meinecke, a former stalwart member on ARBR. He
left us about a year ago in disgust, no doubt overcome by all the rancorous
discourse that this group seems prone to. But still he is right. All anyone
ever has to do is post recumbent content and no one will bother you. It is
only when you get off-topic that Ed Dolan the Great is likely to become
riled.

Jon Meinecke is the only member of ARBR whom I would ever have trusted to be
the moderator for this group. However, he needed to step up to the plate
when Ed Gin was doing his thing on ARBR some time ago. Ed Gin was the
criminal vandal troll who destroyed ARBR. It needn't have happened if
everyone hadn't been so cowardly!

Ed Dolan the Great is here merely to keep the place cleansed of liberal
scofflaws. Saint Edward the Great only shows up when moral matters are
broached. He is a Great Saint and has no tolerance for sinful thoughts,
words or deeds here on ARBR.

Other than that, go at it. Ed Dolan the Great has a minimal interest in the
subject of recumbents, feeling that he knows all and tells nothing. In fact,
be thankful that I expound so little on recumbent subjects as I am just as
contentious there as I am everywhere else in life. Just ask Tom Sherman if
you don't believe me.

Who is this Tam character anyway to disturb our peaceful slumbers?

Love all those T's! But it is not your turf anymore than it is Tom
Sherman's. Get your own blog if you have so much to say why don't you! This
might be a good idea for Tom Sherman too.

The Great Ed Dolan must endeavor to keep the treacherous Tom Sherman forever
at bay. If he were to leave precipitously, Mr. Sherman would again rise like
the phoenix and take over the group with his odious liberal views. Of
course, Wayne of Ventura, whose trike shop was recently robbed, would not
mind this in the least since he is a liberal scofflaw also.

Here is just another reason why the Great Ed Dolan can NEVER leave ARBR. It
is because of fuckheads and shitheads like Wayne of Ventura who is either
into sexual innuendo or toilet innuendo. I think he got like this from
sitting around his trike shop all day with nothing to do (he never has any
paying customers) except ... well, we all KNOW what he does all day don't
we?

Obviously Wayne of Ventura cares! He can't help himself because he is a
failed poet who only knows how to write verse about such subjects as piss,
shit and fuck. That is because he is a shithead and a fuckhead and not even
his verse can save him from the scrutiny of the Great Ed Dolan. He reads my
words because he knows he has to learn to write common prose himself if he
wants to be understood by the idiots of ARBR and who better to learn from
than the Great Ed Dolan. Yea, follow my lead and you will never go far from
wrong!

That is impossible because I say such interesting things.

Actually, that is what makes my messages interesting. You should try it
sometime yourself if you want to be read. To stick totally to the subject
marks you as an ass. Even Tom Sherman has sense enough to let his
imagination wander a bit. Or would you prefer we all stick to the subject
like Jim McNamara (my weasel of a stalker) or, God forbid, you!

Real

They would be one hell of a lot happier if they weren't being robbed every
time they stepped into a recumbent bike shop. We all know your prices are
sky high. When are you going to stop robbing folks. I was happy to see that
you got robbed yourself. Apparently there is some justice in the world after
all.

Yeah, if you don't mind numb feet. Most of those types have numb brains
also. I give you Tom Sherman as an example of the species.

tadpoles

Tadpoles are extremely difficult to steer unless you are going slow. Anyone
with any brains would get a real trike, a delta, not a go-cart tadpole. Some
guys just never grow up I guess.

Well, keep plugging away Wayne of Ventura. Even a stopped clock is right
twice a day.

Good advice, but only for yourself! Others are not as stupid or as
unimaginative as you. They have not yet died and gone to Hellish Ventura.
The climate there is just too soporific. I suggest you go to Alaska and hook
up with Beth the Jewess of the dog kennels. Maybe the two of you could do
the iditerod together. You just need to freeze your ass off a bit (like we
do here in Minnesota) and you would not be such a jerk.

Jeez, only 3 years! It seems longer somehow. But why would anyone go to your
website to read your verse about piss, shit and fuck. Hells Bells, we can
all do that without your help.

Post your verse here on ARBR and I will let you know what I think of it.
After all, I have read the complete works of Lord Byron and so can
distinguish real poetry from doggerel about piss, shit and fuck. I remember
you once did write some pretty good lines about me, comparing me to a
locomotive engine I believe.

Go to BROL which has a moderated forum on recumbents. It will do you no good
to come back ever. Usenet (unmoderated newsgroups) is strictly for idiots
like us.
