It ill becomes Tom Sherman to try to play the role of policeman on Usenet.
After all, that is my job.

Do members of a group have roles to play? You had better believe they do. I
can tell within a matter of a
few weeks what the role is of every member of a newsgroup. I have carved out
a rather unique role for
myself which many others have not yet adjusted to.

But just what is Tom Sherman's role on ARBR? He used to be a main stay of
this group, but he has for the past year or so become little more than a
quipster. He never posts an original message, but he loves to make asinine
reks to the messages of others which go nowhere. In short, he has become
irrelevant to ARBR.

It may be that Tom is more suited to the technical cycling group where he
can indulge his nerdiness. He is clearly not cut out for making any
substantial posts anymore to ARBR. He has abdicated his responsibilities in
that regard.

On a more personal note, I am undecided whether to regard him with eternal
hostility or not. Tom is a taker, not a giver. All of my other adversaries
will occasionally give something, but never Tom. Jim McNaa, another
current
adversary of mine, is more than willing to meet me halfway once I
cease tweaking him. But I have never detected any give in Tom no matter how
much I give to him. It will simplify matters for me enormously if I were to
just
regard him as an implacable enemy.
