Dear Ron, Here's a whole bunch of wooden bikes: http://www.blog.thesietch.org/2007/02/19/wooden-bicycles/ Getting closer to hollow, but still awfully heavy: http://www432.pair.com/linton/hugg/woodbike2.jpg Better-looking, but a lot of half-hidden metal: http://gp.co.at/stayfocused/jano/pix/jano_rearview_376px_cut.jpg Less artistic, but much lighter: http://www.shelter-systems.com/images/wood-bike.jpg A couple more 2x4's and that last one would be a Dursely Pedersen: http://www.dursley-pedersen.net/index.html And here's a wooden motorcycle with weird training wheels and a seat that must leave Brooks-lovers trembling: http://autotimemachine.blogsome.com/2007/01/03/the-first-motorcycle/ Note the elegant single-tube ape-hanger handlebar. Cheers, Carl Fogel

It's pretty... but at 114lbs, it isn't really an engineering project. If he'd made it hollow and optimized the design the weight should have been only a little more than metal bikes.
