Just found this group and didn't get any really good answers from my last post. Anyone? Do you know for a fact one leads to the other?

I know from embarrassing experience that pads contacting the sidewall will destroy the tire pretty quickly, though by abrasion and cuts rather than breaking the bead. Mark J.
